Everything You Need to Know About the Ambler Mining Road, Which Threatens Alaska’s Brooks Range Wilderness. The Ambler Mining Road is a proposed industrial access corridor in the Brooks Range of Alaska. The purpose of the road is to access a valuable mineral belt, known as the Ambler Mining District, in order to mine metals such as copper, zinc, cobalt, and others. The road would cut 211 miles across the Alaskan tundra, including Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve, and is expected to have significant impacts on fish, wildlife, Native inhabitants, and recreation users. In this video, Cameron Sabin of the National Park Diaries YouTube channel explains the proposed project, recent history of regulatory approvals and denials, and why this is currently in the news...with arguments for and against. #orvis #conservation #envirionment #Alaska #nationalparks #wildlife

What does our new board member, Sharon Flynn, think of the mine closure process? Sharon believes that mining should be a temporary use of the land, emphasizing the importance of realizing post-mining land uses. To achieve this, it is imperative for mining companies to implement a high-quality, responsible, and sustainable closure to ensure the safeguarding of both people and the environment. To learn more about how Okane champions the integration of mine closure into mine plans at any phase of the mine life, visit: https://lnkd.in/gSvYmJjq. #Okane #mineclosure #sustainablemining #reclamation
