What does it mean to reimagine education given our current context of chaos and inequity? This is what I discussed with my friend and colleague Wendy Reinsch Fisher on the first episode of the Breaking the Paradigm podcast. We hear the phrase “reimagine education” everywhere in our public discourse. Yet, “reimagine” is often only a call to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic of traditional education. It is time for a new lens on the term.

Check out episode 9 of A Revolution in Education, where Jenee Henry Wood and I share about Transcend and our Innovative Models Exchange (https://lnkd.in/gxEfVknQ). Thanks for having us, Chris Unger!
Another episode! In this episode (Episode 9 of A Rev in Ed podcast, Season 3), Jenee Henry Wood, the Chief Learning Officer at Transcend Education, and Saya Reed, a Fellow on the Products & Capacity Building team, share the goals and efforts of Transcend (transcendeducation.org) to support learning communities transform themselves through a community-centered redesign process while accessing and tapping from a plethora of learner-centered, equity-focused practices from schools across the country that they have curated on their Models Exchange website. Transcend Education was founded by Jeff Wetzler and Aylon Samouha in 2015 to support school communities in creating and spreading extraordinary, equitable learning environments. Now partnering with over 200 schools in 50+ districts, serving nearly 500,000 students in 30 states, they are partnering with educators across the country in their efforts to transform themselves. They do this through their community-based design process, utilizing resources and providing models that help school communities “get from industrial era learning to extraordinary and equitable learning.” They are doing extraordinary work with their partner schools, and the Models Exchange site (https://lnkd.in/eePBYqre) can provide inspiration as well as designs that can help educators pursue new models of education that far better serve youth beyond the industrial model of education that is now outdated for what our youth want and communities need. Hear what they are up to ... and why on this episode. Fantastic!

I had the pleasure of interviewing Kevin J Fleming, Ph.D. on episode 64 of the podcast. And today I am thrilled to share this must-watch Ted Talk from Kevin on redefining the goal of education. "We should be preparing them for life AFTER graduation, not just a checklist TO graduation." I hear repeatedly from recent grads that they (in their own words) don't feel prepared for life after college. They showed up. They did the work. They got the degree. And now what? It's time to change the metrics and the mindset surrounding the goal of education. #collegesuccess #educationgoals #recentgraduates
