🏆 The Nissan Interstar glitters with a Platinum 🏆 Euro NCAP awards the Nissan #Interstar a Safety Assist Performance of 84%. The Interstar is a re-badged Renault Master. The 2024 Interstar scores well in all the aspects of active safety assessed by Euro NCAP. Some passive safety equipment is available only as an option (for example, a passenger airbag and side-curtain airbag) but crash safety is not currently part of the assessment. It's great to see Bharat NCAP gaining momentum. I take great pride in having contributed to its conceptualization and launch. My consulting assignment at MoRTH provided me with the unique opportunity to design and coordinate this transformative program. Indian automotive safety standards have significantly advanced since the implementation of crash norms in 2017. While today's Indian crash standards are nearly aligned with European norms, a valid question remains: why aren't Indian vehicles on par with their European counterparts in terms of safety?" The answer lies in the customer demand. Customers in European countries demand safer cars because they can measure a vehicle's safety through star ratings, thanks to Euro NCAP. An NCAP provides consumers with a tool to compare safety ratings and make informed decisions. Without a reliable safety metric, customers are often left confused and misled by sales tactics. Bharat NCAP aims to raise awareness, enabling customers to compare vehicles based on star ratings and demand safer options. This, in turn, will encourage manufacturers to prioritize safety. Ultimately, it will foster a safety-conscious market. As the saying goes - "What gets measured, gets managed." I hope Bharat NCAP will transform the Indian auto industry in the near future.
