An important read. #investinwomen NOT inspireinclusion. And if you don’t get Daianna Karaian and Robbie Dale’s Today Do This newsletter every week I recommend signing up. Practical, do-able ways to drive change, definitely not just inspiration.
I've seen so many posts today about International Women’s Day, no doubt well meaning. And yet, what I feel is a burning rage. I spent the past 36 hours digging, learning and joining a growing group of women shouting into the void. I’ll put links in the comments to many of these women. I implore you to click, read and learn from them too, as they all say much more eloquently what I’ll try to say here (and what I’ve said in our Today Do This newsletter this week). If you are just googling “international women’s day” to come up with a theme for sticking on social media posts and cupcakes, please know that the website you’re likely landing on is a misleading marketing firm (hint: their URL ends in .com). This company says a whole lot of bs, and it is drowning out and undermining the real work that real feminists (women and men and the official lead on International Women’s Day - UN Women) are actually DOING. International Women’s Day is not intended as an opportunity to share vague platitudes and cute photos. International Women’s Day exists to raise awareness of gender inequality and demand real change… … on protecting women’s bodily autonomy and reproductive rights … on ending violence, harassment and oppression against women … on closing the gender pay and opportunity gap … and on so many other issues of systemic inequality that women continue to face every day all over the world. The official UN theme this year is #InvestInWomen - a clear and challenging call to action. So if you have mistakenly, or not, posted a bit of cheerful frivolity today to wish us all a happy #IWD2024 and encourage us to #InspireInclusion, I ask you to please read some of the links below, and please do better by women. Not just today, or a year from today, but every day. https://lnkd.in/dZvYGhXE

Creating own space, on own terms, is so important for every human being. This can mean something slightly or totally different for each of us. ”My own space, on my own terms” is one of the basic human needs and a condition for real inclusion, financial freedom and peace. I adore metaphors because they are palpable and work in my imagination immediately, like pop-up images. One of my favourite metaphors is Heroin’s journey… where it all starts with embracing feminine qualities, then - getting in touch with the masculine and finally appears space for the ”marriage” of these two. That integration is essential and shows up as healthy boundaries, self-compassion, self-love, ego rooted in Self which is our deepest personal space. In practical terms wholeness is a balance between being active and receptive. Balance between work and love. Putting effort in creating own space in one’s life is a part of individuation, an individual journey for wholeness and balance. And, yes, this can be a radical act of self-love and social activism. ☯️ 🌟I wonder how do YOU measure your balance between work and love today? 🌟Where is your personal space today? 🌟When does it expand, shrink or change? ——————————————————————— I am excited and happy to be a part of #TheExpatWoman as a founding member, where we cocreate space - a community of supportive, experienced women - coaches, consultants, entrepreneurs - who definately share passion for globetrotting. 😊 Thank you Nyna Caputi for creating this visionary, fruitful, international initiative! 🌍🌎🌏👏🏻 #expatwoman #empoweringwomen #InternationalCoachingWeek

In the midst of the chaos and heartache, it's been a rollercoaster of emotions trying to navigate through the relentless barrage of distressing news in our world in the last week. From the Bondi Attacks hitting close to home, to the ongoing conflicts in Gaza taking a heavy toll on innocent lives, and the legal battles like the Bruce Lehrmann defamation case, it's been overwhelming to put it simply. These events aren't just headlines; they're real tragedies that affect real people, especially the most vulnerable like women and children. The empathy we extend towards these situations can be draining, leaving us emotionally exhausted and mentally fatigued. Advocating for justice and standing up against these injustices feels like a constant battle, one that sometimes triggers my own pain and trauma, yet I persevere, driven by the necessity to make a difference because I made a committment to be an upstander the second I decided to pursue The Athena Project Aus. On Friday, Taylor Swift released a new album, and of course I had to find a way to make this content relate to that! In her song "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart," Taylor captures the essence of resilience in adversity - especially with life at the moment. The line "I cry a lot but I am so productive ... it's an art" resonated deeply. It's a reminder that even amidst tears (of which there have been too many lately) we can still channel our emotions into something meaningful and productive. Despite the weight of these heavy issues, we must continue moving forward, turning our pain into purpose and drawing strength from resilience. That's why I'm proudly joining the NO MORE RALLY this weekend. The rally is happening across Australia from Friday, April 26th, to Sunday, April 28th. I'll be at the Brisbane March on Sunday, April 28th, representing The Athena Project Aus and all veteran victim-survivors, calling for an end to the crisis of men's violence against women. It's crucial that we unite and take action immediately, as this is an epidemic that demands urgent attention. I'm asking my network to share this post and engage with Sarah Williams and her incredible NFP, What Were You Wearing? - Australia, who are the driving force behind this National Rally. Together, we can drive change because our voices will be heard, our actions will be seen, and we will make a difference. https://lnkd.in/gn2v7XwX

I am a consultant who changes companies through promoting the potential of all people. I lead the leader through the changes that will be a demand to ensure success, sustainability and certainty in these uncertain times.
“The downfall of Atlantis was too much masculine & not enough feminine, Lemuria was feminine without the masculine, both stories talk about the fall of the civilisation when one aspect of polarity imbalances the other. Both sides need the other to create harmony, which is the awakening of consciousness, when consciousness awakens it balances the left & right hemisphere of your brain, as consciousness awakens, as the ‘I am’ presence awakens in the midpoint, when the left & right hemisphere of the brain, activating the deeper vision of the 3rd eye, opening up the doorway to the heavens of the crown chakra & opening up all the energy centres that allow you to be a living midpoint between the earth & the heavens. The ascension is not about the feminine getting vengeance on the masculine, & this is not about maintaining unconscious masculine domination over the feminine, & this is not about the feminine trying to be powerful by impersonating the masculine. This is about the masculine & the feminine coming back into equal power & surrendering to the power of itself in the other. Where another name for 'I am' is 'You' & the greatest power of the I am we’ll know on this planet is through the union of ‘We’. Where the second coming of Christhood is the remembrance & coming together & activation of conscious community uniting our world as one. Where in this unity no one’s greed or agenda can turn us against our family members & the only way you can be turned against another person is to think of them as a stranger instead of a distant relative. And when we start to treat each other as members of our extended cosmic family no one’s greed or agenda turns us against one another so that we justify the cruelty & conflict that supresses the innocence & keeps our world divided" These words by Matt Kahn entitled ‘A Message of Peace’ in response to the atrocities we are witnessing in Israel, spoke to my heart, infact his whole message did, see it on YouTube. But this extract is aligned with my work, specifically RISE consultancy for women in leadership. For although there is much talk about achieving gender equality in the boardroom, I do not see any discussion about the depths of Why this is such a priority & of vital importance. Nor any understanding that what is missing is the energetic attributes of YIN, needed to balance the YANG. RISE serves all of humanity, for unity is about creating opportunities for all. It is an education grounded in a new driver for change through the evolution of humanity not another revolution! We say we learn through history but what has changed? We wonder why the world is as it is, yet we sit in the familiarity of accepting the unacceptable every single day. I present the root cause & effect for those who wish to consider the depths of change that is needed https://lnkd.in/eWWGdCX2

The National Day of Awareness and Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2S+ people - Red Dress Day, is a day to bring attention to the human rights crisis related to the disproportionate violence experienced by Indigenous women, girls and 2S+ people. To gain a better understanding, Somerville staff watched the video: If I Go Missing by Brianna Jonnie and talked about Brianna’s book of the same title. In addition, we took a deeper dive into several concepts such as 1) the significance of the red dress, 2) some of the recommendations from the National Inquiry into MMIWG and the National Action Plan, 3) the Red Dress Alert and 4) how we, as a society, can advocate for concrete actions to make Canada a safer place for all Indigenous people.
