There are also occasions when they found errors and reported to their providers. Another research found that 21% of patients who accessed their records found errors, and 42% of those errors were described as serious. Recently, I dug into expedited partner therapy (EPT) as an option for decreasing the spread of chlamydia and gonorrhea. I learned a lot about the intervention, its limitations, and ways that policy can make EPT more feasible for healthcare providers to offer to patients. As with most public health interventions, EPT is not a silver bullet for addressing the nation's high STI rates; however, it is another tool that can reach folks who may not otherwise receive treatment.
