Solving the most challenging problems with cloud, database and cyber security for technical leaders and managers in companies of all sizes.
🚨 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐈𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐓 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 🚨 In the high-stakes world of IT management, the team's expertise in charge of your critical systems frequently determines success or failure. As the leader of a dynamic company, you understand how frustrating it is when projects fail due to inadequate support. Here is why settling for inexperienced tech teams is a risk you cannot afford: 𝟏. 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬: Nothing ruins your business like a poorly managed database. Inexperienced teams may lack the foresight and skill to structure databases properly, resulting in performance bottlenecks and scalability issues. 𝟐. 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Cloud migrations are complex. Without seasoned experts, migrations can result in data loss, prolonged downtime, and security vulnerabilities, costing your business time, money, and trust. 𝟑. 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐚𝐩𝐬: Cybersecurity demands up-to-date expertise. Novices may lack the in-depth knowledge required to protect your systems from the most recent threats, leaving your company vulnerable to security breaches. 𝟒. 𝐈𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Quality in IT is more than just keeping things running; it is also about improving performance. Skilled professionals create solutions that grow with your company instead of temporary fixes that may need to be revisited frequently. 𝟓. 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐬: Hiring less experienced employees may appear to be less expensive at first, but the long-term financial impact of delays, errors, and inefficiencies can far outweigh the cost of hiring qualified experts from the start. At Deverg, we understand the challenges you face in maintaining the integrity and security of your business data. That is why at Deverg, we only have experienced specialists in our team who are recognised leaders in their respective fields. Our team provides robust database management, seamless cloud solutions, and top-tier cybersecurity, ensuring that your business runs smoothly and thrives in a secure environment. While I was participating in TechNet Cyber, this important DOD announcement was release to the attendees. "The Pentagon unveiled a new IT modernization strategy....that lays out tangible steps for leaders to address workforce shortages, make its networks faster and streamline policies for more efficient procurement and governance." "The strategy offers specifics on broad, sweeping goals by the Pentagon to communicate faster and more securely with warfighters and allies. To date, the government has issued a number of strategic plans and frameworks to double down on cybersecurity and accelerate the military’s development of tools like AI, but this plan takes that a step further by prioritizing user experience and scalable, agile investments." If you missed TechNet Cyber or this important DOD announcement, I wanted our Industry Partners to be aware. I regularly discuss GOVCON opportunities with our industry partners and the efficiency of the acquisition process is a consistent topic. #defenseindustry #defenseacquisition #itmodernization #dod

Breaking Analysis: Why CrowdStrike is separating from the cybersecurity pack It’s been an interesting few weeks in the #cybersecurity space. The sector has been somewhat less affected by budget tightening these past twenty-four months and at the same time has benefitted from #AI tailwinds. But in the past several weeks we’ve seen some separation in key highflying cybersecurity names. Specifically, Palo Alto Networks shocked the street last month with a $600M billings forecast surprise and sounded the alarm that there were cracks in its consolidation execution. This dragged down other consolidation players in sympathy, namely CrowdStrike and Zscaler. But our research shows that the dynamics facing these three companies are quite different. Of particular note, CrowdStrike’s earnings print highlights the company’s impressive momentum while recent negativity around Zscaler is a bit of a head scratcher for us, which we’ll try to explain. In this Breaking Analysis we take a more narrow look at the information #security space and dig deeper into the continued success of CrowdStrike. With recent survey data from ETR, we continue to advance our premise that #platforms beat #products and we identify several levers that are powering CrowdStrike’s path to $5B by FY 2026 and to $10B by the end of the decade. We also try and decode important nuggets from statements made by three prominent CEOs, Nikesh Arora Jay Chaudhry and George Kurtz vis a vis the headwinds or lack thereof when it comes to consolidating point security tools onto a platform. And as always in #BreakingAnalysis, we share survey data from ETR (Enterprise Technology Research) - this time focused on cyber in the SMB market looking at the overlap between CrowdStrike and Dell Technologies accounts with a comparison across the broader competitive landscape. Not only the three consolidators mentioned above...but also security solution spending data for Microsoft Splunk SentinelOne Elastic Tanium CyberArk Fortinet Netskope & Exabeam What are you seeing in the cyber space? If you're a customer are you feeling #spending #fatigue or are you burnt out on #ELAs? Has your CFO squeezed your budget and are you forced to settle for "good enough" in cyber? Does the recent hack into Microsoft's internal systems and access to its code repository give you pause about their ability to secure your data? https://lnkd.in/eBR9thKZ

Enterprise technology predictions for 2024 🔮 The team at ETR (Enterprise Technology Research) and SiliconANGLE & theCUBE put together their enterprise tech predictions for 2024 and it's pretty good! Packed with tons of graphs and stats to back their predictions. Key takeaways: 🔸Identity + vulnerability management remain the top security concerns. 🔸 Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Zscaler reaping the rewards of their aggressive M&A strategy. Interesting not to see Cisco here who had the most acquisitions in tech last year. 🔸 Data quality, governance and compliance comes in at #7. AI/ML is only as good as the data it is trained on. 🔸 Tech spending to increase 4-5% YoY. Barracuda Networks has an interesting report about the current trends and future prospects of the Managed Service Provider segment of the IT services market. The report taps the intelligence of over 700 MSPs around the world and the results are interesting. For one, it confirms what most of us in this business were thinking. There is a clear and ongoing shift away from interventions or project-based engagements to ongoing relationships designed to deliver a portfolio of recurring services. The shift is being driven by a perceptible (and now visible) move to scale back in-house IT teams in favour of MSPs – 92% of responding businesses reported this happening. The other interesting projection was about the areas where enterprises are seeking help. Security is a clear focus among the solutions being offered by MSPs. Security Operations Centres were the clear leader with 42% of enterprises demanding this service offering. Nearly 40% needed security awareness training and network security solutions too. AI is an obvious item of focus and MSPs that don’t scale up their knowledge in this space are likely to suffer. It seems like the industry is at a turning point. The rising complexity of the enterprise tech ecosystem, coupled with the reduction in the availability of in-house talent could make the MSP offering very compelling. For the right kind of MSPs, that is! #EnterpriseIT #ManagedServices #MSPs

Cultivating Digital Excellence: Developing Tech Talent in Government by our Quadrant Four Team. Federal agencies rely on sophisticated technologies to protect national security, manage critical infrastructure, and deliver essential services to citizens. However, the rapid pace of technological advancements presents a significant challenge: attracting and retaining skilled tech professionals. Federal roles often require unique cybersecurity, data analytics, and IT infrastructure expertise, yet these positions are becoming increasingly difficult to fill. The private sector's lucrative offers and dynamic work environments often lure top talent away from public service. Developing and maintaining a pipeline of highly skilled tech professionals through continuous learning, innovative training programs, and strategic recruitment efforts is crucial for federal agencies to stay ahead of emerging threats and effectively serve the public. This week at VIRTUS we have been celebrating International Women’s Day which is tomorrow, Friday 8th March. This year’s theme is ‘inspiring inclusion’. To inspire inclusion means to celebrate diversity and empowerment on International Women's Day 2024 and beyond. International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Each year, this day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality and highlights the work that still needs to be done. This year's campaign theme underscores the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality. It calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected. Inspire Inclusion encourages everyone to recognize the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life, including those from marginalised communities. In the companies I have worked for in my 35 plus year career in computing, I have had the privilege to work for mainly female leaders in almost all of these companies, though I recognise this is not the norm. I have and continue to work with many other inspirational women (like #christinamertens and others), and at VIRTUS we are consciously working towards including more women in our management and board, and are making progress. Some of the figures below illustrate how much work generally there is still to do. Please join us in celebrating International Women’s day. · 181 million girls and young women are not in education, employment or training · Women make up 70% of the health workforce but hold fewer leadership positions than men in the sector https://lnkd.in/dpBDP3Hq

What are the most critical cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities specific to data centers, and how can they be effectively mitigated? 3. What are the best practices for ensuring the physical and network security of a data center, including access control, incident response, and disaster recovery to ensure business continuity? Christina Mertens joined VIRTUS Data Centres as VP Business Development EMEA in June 2022 with over ten years’ experience in developing strategies for, and expanding, existing and new hyperscale data centre infrastructure geographies across EMEA. For the past decade, she has worked for Amazon in EMEA, where she expanded the existing Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centre regions in colocation and self-built facilities, as well as launched new region geographies as the country manager.
