📈 New research on the ethics of AI released in partnership with @barnagroup 👀 - “We know from our recent research findings that most people, not just Christians, are navigating where and when to use AI in alignment with their personal values. It’s no surprise that most Christian adults believe ministry tasks requiring a personal touch should be done by humans,” said Steele Billings, head of AI at Gloo, “But what may be surprising to most ministry leaders is that many Christians are optimistic about using AI beyond just everyday administrative tasks.” - Read the full release here: https://vist.ly/3dc3r . . . #AIandtheChurch #NewResearch #Barna #GlooConnects #ChurchLeaders

I wholeheartedly agree. One part of that "science of AI safety" will be the logic of unsupervised evaluation. The Machine Learning research community has caught glimpses of this logic (e.g. the work of Emmanouil Antonios Platanios and Tom Mitchell on agreement equations) but needs to do more. I'm contributing with the Open Source Python package, ntqr (https://lnkd.in/gypDcd7H).
“To ensure that models are safe for widespread adoption, we need to develop a science of AI safety,” Stanford HAI senior fellow Rob Reich told in a recent interview. “This is one of the most important missions of the AI Safety institute.” https://lnkd.in/g84szrxK

I was honoured to be the first guest on a new show hosted by Keith McDonald. We covered a lot of ground in this talk. I appreciate how Keith's questions provided space for a socio-technical discussion about #ai and my work. Keith and I are also both ex-muni gov - so we got into a little bit about governments use of AI, policy and regulation. #aiethics #responsibleai #artificialintelligence #generativeai https://lnkd.in/gHQNfeVr

It's high time we address how anthropic researchers tend to wear down AI ethics with repetitive questioning. The relentless inquiry into ethical considerations is essential, but it's equally important to ensure we don't overwhelm or undermine the system we seek to empower. Let's continue to explore this topic with nuance and thoughtfulness to drive genuinely impactful advancements in the AI space. #AIethics #AnthropicResearch #EthicalAI #TechEthics #AIInnovation

Ethics can be a tricky subject, as it depends on both culture and time. What is considered bad or good can change over time, as evidenced by historical examples like slavery and more current issues like AI. It's important to keep this in mind as we navigate complex ethical dilemmas in today's world. #ai #aiethics #safeai #airegulation #airegulations
