There is a quote from this article "a river of hate" which, while it may still ring true of individuals today as it did in 1963, there exists another symptomatic factor which we cannot ignore. What differs today, which did not exist in 1963 are the effects of post-pandemic COVID-19 syndrome. That syndrome of anxiety and depression which exist today was not present in 1963. We must therefore also consider a nation of people who are still suffering from grief and depression from lost loved ones, job losses, financial insecurities all compounded by the pandemic. For many, post-pandemic anxiety and depressive symptoms can be compounded and are still quite prevalent especially in specific populations of people, those who are single, unmarried and of low-income or experiencing financial and child-care difficulties. "Continuing support for Americans struggling the most could still help turn the tide. “Addressing stressors, such as job loss, challenges accessing childcare, and difficulties paying rent, will help to improve population mental health and reduce inequities that have deepened during the pandemic,” Ettman says." Here is the final installment to Robert Reich's series on American capitalism (with links to the other installments). I find his words illuminating and inspiring. "It is time to decisively rescue democracy and the rule of law. It is time to defeat Trump and his enablers, who are determined to defy the core values of America.  It is also time to craft a capitalism that works for the many rather than the few — to achieve a common good whose benefits are widely shared. It will be interesting to see how these two Historians excuse early Christians calling the Declaration of Independence BLASPHEMY, and there being no (absolutely Zero) reference to God in both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. It is sheer idiocy to proscribe a religious element to our Constitutional Republic when the Framers were mostly hostile to Feudalism with the experience and knowledge of the Dark Ages. Separation of Church and State is a reality no matter how Religionist try to finesse it. Most of the the principal writers of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were Deist and not of the Christian variety we associate with modern religion. So, I look forward to the latest Religious fad of invoking Religion into our system of government where none exist.
