I've never written a post like this 👀 However, 19 months ago I was put in a horrible position. With our second born due in just 5 weeks, I was let go from my senior sales role and had no other option but to make s*it happen. With no past experience I was banking on drive, willpower and a load of luck along the way. On the 7th of February 2023 SWJ Growth was born. If you dream of building a business or feel you're in a similar position as I once was, this post is for you. Here's my advice on how to build a salary replacing business in JUST 30 DAYS. In this post, I’m going to break down exactly what you need to get started and it will only take you 3 hours a week. Meaning... if you're serious about this, you could well be on your way in under 30 days. Let's get into it: Week 1 – Define Your Offer: Start by identifying the skills you already have that solve a real problem. People will pay you for what you already know. (Example: I knew someone who created a hula hoop course and was consistently earning £20,000 a month!) This isn't a joke! Week 2 – Find Your Audience: Who would benefit most from your expertise? Spend time on LinkedIn to understand their pain points, crafting an offer that truly addresses real needs. Proper, long standing businesses all solve major problems, don't underestimate or overlook this. Week 3 – Optimise Your LinkedIn Profile & Outreach: Update your profile to clearly state who you help and how. Connect with potential clients, offering your services for free initially to gather testimonials. In the early days you'll need to gather feedback and testimonials. Social proof is the ultimate cheat code. Week 4 – Start Conversations: With a refined profile and new connections, you now need to start conversations. No hard selling needed. Explain clearly how you can solve their problems quicker if they were to do it on their own. Remember to track your progress and use this data for future adjustments. Consistent, small steps will help you grow and scale. This all sound very very simple, and it is. Starting a business doesn’t need to take forever. Scam business #5: PropelLink. Here is the next cookie-cutter, robo-marketing email scam I received. Same basic ruse as the prior four I posted: Center Point Agency, Dividend Station, CapSight Strategy, and Brackett Consulting. You get an unsolicited email with no opt-out, same website design, follow-up (sometimes from their "team lead") a few hours later, neither the firm nor the individuals exist on LinkedIn. Beware! Subject: A Referral Opp – Hello Andy, I'm reaching out from PropelLink, where we specialize in easing the growth pains of rapidly expanding businesses by connecting them with top-tier consultants. As our network of organizations flourishes, the demand for expert consultants in marketing, consulting, recruiting, and finance has surged. is precisely what our clients need to navigate their growth challenges. In January 2024, Jacob told me, “Likes don’t pay the bills.” You can either focus on getting more likes and followers, or you can focus on getting more business with a little less reach and slower growth. Since then, my approach to LinkedIn has changed. Last year, I didn’t post any sales content. I always posted content that could help me grow and get more eyeballs. The generalized content was for everyone. I got more views, with my carousels reaching 100k+, But clients? Not that many. This year, I’ve changed my approach. Now, I don’t spend as much time on LinkedIn. I post mainly sales content and convert the comments as well. 😂 It takes time to understand things, but when you do, it’s not that complicated. Are likes and followers good? HELL YES! If you are chasing likes and followers, do not stop because that’s good social proof to add. But with that, find a way to monetize. Find a way to get premium clients. Find a way to stable your business. Create a system for yourself & your clients. Focus on improving your skillset. Focus on crafting better offer. Hiring better people. You started this because you wanted to build the stable business, don't forget that.
