The Dysphagia Research Society is organized exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes.

What is dysphagia? Dysphagia is difficulty swallowing. We swallow about 600 times a day and don't even think twice about it. Swallowing is something we all take for granted – that is, until a problem occurs. In 2008, June was declared National Dysphagia Awareness Month, to help raise awareness and improve the lives of those living with dysphagia. #DysphagiaAwareness #DRS #dysphagia #dysphagiaresearch #science #research #swallowingdisorders #scientists

Both of my beloved parents experienced this devastating consequence. My mom initially following a stroke and my dad after an extended period of immobility and deconditioning following a COVID infection during the height of the pandemic. They’re both gone now and the impact, especially for my Dad was devastating.

Thank you to DRS for supporting research and raising awareness of this, often devastating, disability that is a symptom of so many conditions.

Great information to bring awareness to an unconscious functions that we take forgranted.
