More from the world of #AI. ElevenLabs posted a video of their AI text to audio tech combined with the recent releases of OpenAI's #sora videos. It's pretty cool. I probably use sound effects as much as I use stock footage, which is not very often. But when I have the search has been laborious. I'm interested in #sora from the point of view of B-Roll footage, to add colour and context to things I have filmed already with a real camera, like a testimonial interview, or a CEO/stakeholder call to action. It would be great to replace sound effect diving with text to audio. Or would asking an AI to create a sound with various levels of specificity in the prompt be just as annoying as rooting through pages and pages of a sound library? #promptengineering really is going to be the next major skill we are going to have to learn! #videography #videoproduction #ai #postproduction #audio #sfx

Now I see what's happening and know that upskilling to incorporate this new tech is about survival - we need to reflect on how can we make use of the humanity and real world we bring to our industries. What can we contribute that AI can't?

I always wanted to be a filmmaker. I started with a super8 film camera making stop frame animation. Anything more ambitious was out of reach because the equipment was just too expensive. Many years later, the explosion of affordable video cameras and Smartphones, that could shoot good quality video, meant anyone could make films. Now new AI tools like OpenAI’s Sora mean anyone can create the unfilmable shots and make Hollywood blockbusters. I hear the old crusties complaining about AI but I think it’s the most exciting thing to happen to the film and video industry since the Bolex HR16 and NLE (non linear editing).
