“There are easier ways to make money in healthcare…” The first time I met Grant Gordon from Artemis by Nomi Health, this was the core of our conversation - that trying to sell benefits analytics software to mid-level HR leaders in companies who desperately needed help curbing their healthcare spending was really hard. Solving meaningful problems in #healthcare is hard, fraught with #conflictedincentives, and emotionally and financially draining. Want to make a ton of money in healthcare? Be an #administrator or a #broker or a #paymentsprocessor or all of them. Here’s looking at you Optum, Zelis, Waystar and so many others. So why do people try and solve core, #firstprinciples problems in the face of overwhelming odds against? Cause it seems like the right thing to do. Jordan Peterson said that doing #hardthings is the essence of life. President Henry Eyering gave an incredible talk years ago about asking God for challenges and #mountainstoclimb. President Kennedy said we go to the moon, not because it is easy, but because it is hard. Seek out hard things, hard problems, insurmountable odds. You cannot know the personal or professional #growth waiting on the other side of your efforts. Sometimes having the faith to #movemountains means picking up a shovel and starting to dig. #disrupthealthcare

💡 It’s time to shift the conversation. First responders and healthcare workers aren’t what's “broken,” and it’s not “compassion” causing their fatigue. The real issue? The SYSTEMS they work within. Rather than focusing on "fixing" individuals, let’s address systemic burden and empower both individuals and organizations to thrive, building resilience from within. I’m honored to join Chief Chuck DeSmith, Michelle Bernabe, RN, KAT, and Melina Davis at #RosettaFest2024 on the panel, “ALL IN: Who’s Rescuing the Rescuers”, as we explore the power of participatory models and the shift from control-based to trust-oriented leadership. These approaches create safe environments where individuals can openly share what’s working—and what’s not—while building trust and shared responsibility. When people feel and EXPERIENCE being seen, heard, and valued, they engage as active contributors in designing the programs that are meant to serve them, ultimately reshaping organizational culture. The result? Sustainable, scalable, and replicable progress. Let’s start reshaping how we support those on the front lines. Join our movement to shift the narrative and create a future where our systems, organizations, and the people within them can truly thrive. 💪 📢 Free virtual access for First Responders and Emergency Healthcare workers. https://lnkd.in/g6XBiMSs Use code MelEos100 #ParticipatoryLeadership #SystemBurden #SystemFatigue #ShiftTheConversation

"Burnout" and "compassion fatigue" might be the biggest misnomer in today's workplace. Here's why: What we often label as compassion fatigue or burnout may actually be systems fatigue and strategic overburden. This shift in perspective has profound implications: 1. It moves the focus from individual resilience to organizational accountability. 2. It highlights the need for systemic changes together with personal coping strategies. 3. It empowers leaders to address sustainable root causes instead of symptoms. I'm thrilled to dive deeper into this crucial topic at #RosettaFest2024! I'll be joining Chuck DeSmith, Kalli Ortega, and Melina Davis on the panel "ALL IN: Who's Rescuing the Rescuers". We'll also explore: • The power of participatory models • Shifting from control-based to trust-oriented leadership • Creating safe environments for open dialogue • Building trust and shared responsibility Join us in reshaping support for those on the front lines. Let's create a future where our systems, organizations, and people can thrive. #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeWellbeing #OrganizationalChange #RosettaFest2024

😀… Recall my previous post about the feedback from one of our doctors who was leaving our clinic? Well, she changed her mind! And this picture shows the way she walked past the exit door, not through it😀. I didn’t know that I will have to do this but I guess it also shows results! Like I earlier mentioned, we had organized a farewell event for the doctor, provided resources for her next steps, and openly expressed our appreciation for her contributions. During this process, she had time to reflect on her experiences here—the supportive environment, the close-knit relationships with her colleagues, and the impact she had on her patients in the location. She realized that her journey with us wasn't finished. The positive exit experience gave her the space to reconsider her decision and recognize that the sense of purpose and connection she felt at our clinic was something she didn't want to leave behind. Again, the doctor’s decision to stay has had a profound impact on our staff. It reinforced the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace where every team member feels valued. Her choice to stay also boosted morale, showing that our clinic is not just a workplace but a community where people want to belong. Her story has inspired many within our team, reminding us all of the power of commitment, reflection, and the importance of a positive workplace culture. It has strengthened our resolve to continue providing an environment where our staff feels appreciated and motivated to stay for the long haul. This isn’t a fiction, it is real! I hope business owners, managers and HR professionals learn something from this. Employees’ exit do not have to be handled with hostility!
