Jobs and Skills Australia draws on the complex work they and the Australian Bureau of Statistics did in linking data across a range of datasets drawn from sources including the Australian Taxation Office, DEWR and National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) at the VET course level. It presents findings across four key areas of student outcome: • Employment – post-study work status and change in status • Economic – median income and income uplift post-completion • Social – reduced reliance and exits from income support post-completion, and • Further study – progression to higher level of VET and higher education post-completion. Policy Change: JAMB’s New Admission Age and Its Implications Given our tendency towards emergency policymaking, this move wasn’t surprising. Here is my response to UTME’s (JAMB) resolution to increase the admission age to tertiary institutions to 18 years old (from 16). Although subject to change, here are my thoughts: 1. Change management principles stress the importance of allowing time for the diffusion and implementation of innovation. While this policy is set for next year, one year is a short notice for such a significant change affecting young students’ academic journeys. 2. Over the years, the age and maturity of students have declined as they skip primary 6. We now have younger students in secondary school, leading to undergraduates who may lack the mental and psychosocial readiness for tertiary education. 3. Setting the admission age to 18 might encourage parents to let their children experience the holistic educational process. They won’t be admissible to tertiary institutions until they turn 18. 4. The waiting period can be used for acquiring tech skills, internships, learning trades, job shadowing, and equipping students with relevant skills. 5. These experiences can help students make informed career choices. If I had an internship before university, I might have pursued a career in education earlier. 6. UTME, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and other agencies should create opportunities for internships, job shadowing, tech scholarships, and vocational training to keep youths engaged and away from negative influences. 7. Finally, if the legal age is 18, all sectors should adhere to it, including addressing issues like child marriage. I’m Oluwatosin Mogbadunade, committed to SDG 4 (Quality Education). I speak at conferences and seminars on education and am open to collaborations, partnerships, and policy initiatives to improve education for Nigerian and African children. #EducationPolicy #SDG4 #QualityEducation #Nigeria #YouthDevelopment #EducationReform #PolicyChange #JAMB #UTME #WAEC #University #Postsecondaryeducation

There is a scholarship for everyone.. Many students are seeking scholarships now that exams have ended. I've been approached by numerous students interested in studying abroad who are concerned about their financial limitations. When I suggest applying for scholarships, the common responses are, 'I'm not capable of getting one,' or 'There aren't many slots available.' However, this is a misconception. Numerous scholarship opportunities go unclaimed simply because students are unaware of them. To help, here is a list of partially or fully funded scholarships available for top countries. Please 'REPOST' to reach as many people as possible, so more students can benefit from these opportunities #scholarship #psychology #masters #education #abroad

What's next… new dreams, transitions and pathways. 🌄 It's an exciting time for our Year 6's as they hit the graduation milestone and look forward to the next stage of their Gesher journey, moving into our secondary stage at our school. It's another pivotal point for our Year 9s, who are about to become our first-ever Year 10s. So much work has gone into deciding what this will look like for each student. We have a holistic approach which is built with them, structured around their interests and in conversation with their families. We have been quite vocal about the lack of options for children with SEN and the over-reliance on GCSEs as the main marker for educational success. Tianna, our year 9 teacher and student advocacy lead, shares how we break this down how we have helped plan our year 9's next steps: 1️⃣ We look at their unique needs, strengths, interests and passions. 2️⃣ We identify different subjects and awards based on their performance in class and potential to grow - we are always ambitious for our students. 3️⃣ It's not just about academics - we prioritise emotional and social development of our students - we understand that this will impact their ability to access and engage in learning. 4️⃣ We talk to them about their future and make sure there is alignment between the pathways we offer and their career aspirations. 5️⃣ We actively involve parents or guardians in the decision-making process to make this a well-rounded approach. Our ultimate goal is to develop a comprehensive transition plan that builds confidence and prepares students for success not just at Gesher but also in their post-school life. We offer them: ➡️An academic pathway, focusing on obtaining qualifications. ➡️A vocational pathway for those with practical skills, leading to apprenticeships. ➡️A supported employment pathway for students requiring significant support in the workplace. ➡️A life skills program, aimed at developing independence and daily living skills. ➡️A therapeutic pathway for those needing ongoing interventions. ➡️A blended pathway that combines academic, vocational, and life skills training. We look forward to seeing what they go on to achieve over the next few years and sharing our learning with you. #SEND #Learningdifficulties #education #SENDprovision #futureeducation #accesstoeducation #autism #ADHD #schools #alternativeprovision
