Stop dealing with incorrect data sources in Tableau. Master the three key methods of managing data in Tableau to work more efficiently. 📊 By understanding: ➟ Live Connection, ➟ Extract, ➟ and Published Extract, —so you can focus on your analysis. Let me break it down. — Live Connection: Ideal for instant access to your data. Examples: • Connecting directly to a SQL database. • Accessing an Excel file to reflect changes immediately. • Running real-time queries for dynamic data. Tips: • Use for quick work with small, local files. • Avoid large databases to prevent slow performance. — Extract: Cached and Efficient It is best for working offline or with static data. Examples: • Extracting data from an Excel file to your computer. • Loading a specific dataset for faster queries. • Using a subset of data for a focused analysis. Tips: • Extract only necessary data to save space and time. • Remember to hit 'refresh' if the source data changes. — Published Extract: Shared and Scalable Perfect for collaborative projects and reusable data. Examples: • Publishing an extract to Tableau Cloud for team access. • Reusing an extract across multiple Tableau workbooks. • Managing a central dataset for consistent analysis. Tips: • Use for data that multiple team members access. • Ensure extracts are updated regularly to maintain accuracy. — 📌 Which method do you use the most? ♻️ Share this post to help your network. https://lnkd.in/gJC_MqJy

President, Founder of Revelation.AI | Analytics Champion, Einstein Champion | Certified Tableau and Salesforce Einstein Expert
Now is the time to start mapping out your Tableau Cloud Migration! If you were able to attend #TC24 in-person or virtually, it was clear that the future of Tableau lies in #TheCloud! - Innovation: With the help of Salesforce's AI Product Team, Tableau is introducing Tableau AI products left-and-right! Whether it's #EinsteinDiscovery in Tableau (EDiT), Einstein Copilot in Tableau, or Tableau Pulse, Tableau is supercharging their AI integrated feature list to help Tableau Users (End Users and Devs alike) make the most of their data - Cost: Tableau Cloud is often a cheaper setup than Tableau Server, allowing businesses to cut out hardware expenses, streamline IT management/maintenance, and offer scalability and global accessibility across the organization. Its typical subscription-based model also allows for predictable expenses and adaptability compared to the usage-based Server pricing model. - Security: We deal with a lot of FINS /HLS customers, where security is the #1 priority. There's a common misconception that Tableau Cloud may not be as secure; however, Tableau Cloud, being managed by Tableau itself, benefits from regular updates and security patches applied by Tableau's dedicated security teams. Additionally, Tableau Cloud also offers advantages in terms of physical security and data center certifications (i.e. HIPAA/SOC2), as Tableau typically hosts its cloud services in highly secure and compliant data centers. Scale: Tableau Cloud offers flexible resource allocation, automatic scaling, and a global infrastructure. By managing infrastructure tasks, Tableau Cloud allows IT teams to prioritize strategic initiatives, making it a superior choice for organizations managing growing data volumes and user bases. Though there are always edge use-cases where Tableau Server may be the right choice, we are finding more and more that customers would highly benefit from migrating (or deploying) Tableau Cloud - reach out today if you would like to talk through our typical Cloud Migration Process, and how we could work with your team to discover whether Tableau Cloud is the right fit for you! #Tableau #Cloud #Modernization #Analytics #Roadmap #AI

PowerBI was built for server-based, on-premise data warehouses with limited and costly storage and compute. Sigma is built for cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, GoogleBigQuery, AWS Redshift, et al.) that have commoditized data storage costs and virtually unlimited and instantly scalable compute layers. It's difficult to compare tools in the same category (BI) that were built for completely different technology eras, but this post explains it all. 💡 #Data #Cloud #Analytics
