In the face of climate change, no community feels its impact more deeply than our farmers.
Rising temperatures, unpredictable rains, and extreme weather events have turned farming into a gamble with nature.
Crops fail, incomes shrink, and the uncertainty looms larger with every passing season.
Yet, our farmers persevere, carrying the weight of feeding a nation on their shoulders.
This Kisan Diwas, let’s acknowledge their resilience and the urgent need to support them through these challenges.
And it’s truly heartening to see brands like Godrej Agrovet stepping up to handhold our farmers, equipping them with resources and knowledge to adapt and thrive despite the odds.
Climate change is real, but so is the strength of our farmers.
Here’s to walking together, hand in hand, to build a stronger, brighter future.
More power to the real heroes of our nation—our farmers.

Hydrate The Imagination: Innovation, Sustainability, & 🌱 Lush Gardens Amul India
I recently had the chance to visit the Amul Dairy plant in Anand, Gujarat 🇮🇳 and while I expected to learn about their legendary dairy products 🥛, I walked away amazed by something else their commitment to water conservation 💧.
Amul has confidentally published strategies for saving water and energy, but seeing them in action was a real eye-opener. From state-of-the-art water treatment systems ⚙️ to lush gardens 🌳 irrigated entirely with reclaimed water, Amul has perfected the balance between production and environmental stewardship 🌍.
Here’s how they’re leading the way:
1️⃣ Efficient Water Treatment Systems
Using advanced processes like Activated Sludge, Membrane Bioreactors (MBR), and Reverse Osmosis (RO), Amul reclaims nearly 80% of wastewater ♻️ for reuse.
2️⃣ Energy and Water Savings
By recycling water, they’ve reduced dependency on freshwater 💦 and cut energy use in water processes by 20-30% annually ⚡.
3️⃣ Rainwater Harvesting
They capture and recharge thousands of litres of groundwater 🌧️, benefiting both operations farmers and the surrounding community 🏘️.
Amul, the pioneer of India’s White Revolution 🐄, continues to lead by example not just in dairy but in sustainability and environmental stewardship 🌿. Visiting their plant reinforced how businesses can grow responsibly while giving back to the planet 🌏.
Have you come across similar efforts in other industries? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Honoring Hindustan Unilever Foundation (#HUF) recent recognition of our shared mission, we’re thrilled that Swayam Shikshan Prayog SSP's Marathwada District Transformation Model, working in 6 Blocks and 406 villages in drought-prone Dharashiv district has been awarded the “Beyond the Fence National Award for Excellence in Water Management” by the Confederation of Indian Industry 🌊 🌊. This award underscores the critical work in sustainable water management and the central role of women leaders in agricultural transformation.
In a region where erratic rainfall challenges 77% of the population reliant on farming, SSP has mobilized women-led initiatives to drive community change. Through this project, women have led the way in preserving water resources, enhancing farm resilience, and creating livelihoods:
🌱 Women-Led Climate-Resilient Farming (#WCRF): Women are leading over 40,000 hectares in a shift from water-intensive crops to sustainable multi-cropping, benefiting thousands of local families.
💧 Panchayat-Level Water Conservation: Women leaders have actively driven water-saving projects in 150 villages, creating critical infrastructure for drought resilience and setting a sustainable path for future generations.
👩🌾 Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Through this program, 35,000+ women entrepreneurs are building local economies through vermicomposting, biopesticides, and other sustainable practices, creating impactful changes within their communities.
🌾 Land Rights & Access to Resources: 12,000+ women now have land ownership, and over 33,000 households are connected to essential government schemes, generating ₹41 crores in community support.
This award reaffirms that women, given the resources and recognition, can lead transformative, sustainable change in agriculture and water management.

Do awards matter?
Hindustan Unilever Foundation (#HUF) has stayed with the singular north star of contributing to a water-secure India. This is primarily achieved through our commitment to supporting our not-for-profit partners in driving the focused agenda.
It matters when one of these programmes is recognised by the Confederation of Indian Industry's "Beyond the Fence National Award for Excellence in Water Management", which acknowledges outstanding initiatives in water management and sustainability!
Today, the ongoing district transformation model in drought-prone Dharashiv district (earlier named Osmanabad), Maharashtra, implemented by our partner Swayam Shikshan Prayog SSP, received this much sought-after award.
The programme has led to remarkable achievements for the community—in around 150 villages, linking 60,000 farmers and, most importantly, crafting and validating a scalable pathway that can be adopted in similar conditions. This success story offers hope and inspiration for future initiatives.
HUF humbly accepts this award on behalf of the women of the community and our partner, SSP, who have proven that change is possible. This is a testament to the collective effort of all involved, including our partners, stakeholders, and the community itself.

The award was presented today by Shri Ashok Kumar Meena, Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Jal Shakti to the HUF team led by Anantika Singh, along with kumud joshi, Nivedita Ghonge, Priyanka Rawat and Sagar Suri
Today, we’re thrilled to be one of the first companies to adopt #ScienceBasedTargets#ForNature, starting with freshwater.
Human health relies on healthy natural ecosystems and protecting nature helps build business resilience. That’s why we’ve set ambitious goals for nature. As a company with science at its core, we recognise the importance of a measurable and science-based approach.
We’ve worked with Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) to adopt a freshwater target for our direct operations, with an initial focus on the Upper Godavari basin in India. To deliver this, we are reducing freshwater use at our manufacturing site in Nashik, enhancing water replenishment through nature restoration, as well as driving collective action with local stakeholders to address shared water challenges.

Seeds of Love
The love and bond between brother and sister should be as enduring, healthy, and pure as the spirit of nature itself, not temporary, artificial, and troublesome. If you believe this to be true, the rakhi a sister ties on her brother’s wrist during Raksha Bandhan must reflect this eternal connection. Such a rakhi exists, made from the pure desi seeds of vegetables and food grains. When planted in soil, this rakhi will grow, nourish, and sustain, symbolising the enduring health and bond between siblings. Rahibai Popere, affectionately known as the ‘Seed Mother’ of Maharashtra, champions this belief and explains its significance during the rakhi festival.
In recent years, Rahibai and a group of women farmers from the remote Kombhalne village in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district, who hails from a tribal community, have taken it upon themselves to build a seed bank and promote indigenous seeds. Whether Diwali or Raksha Bandhan, these women use seeds to express their love for sustainable farming.

Here's how I demonstrate environmental responsibility in my daily life. #GreenerTogether#LinkedInNewsIndia
I come from Chhattisgarh, a region rich in natural resources and lush greenery. Growing up surrounded by nature, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the environment. It’s a part of who I am, and I try to honor it in how I live.
🌱 Gardening: I plant trees and grow everything I can in my garden—fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
💡 Energy Efficiency: I make a conscious effort to save energy—whether it’s switching off lights when they’re not needed or choosing energy-efficient appliances.
🛍️ Reducing Waste: I avoid single-use plastics and try to make thoughtful choices when shopping. Supporting eco-friendly brands is one small way I can make a difference.
💻 Spreading Awareness: On platforms like LinkedIn, I love sharing stories and ideas to encourage others to take small but meaningful steps toward sustainability.
These might seem like little things, but I truly believe that when we all do our part, it adds up to something powerful.
