Building culture and connection 🫶🏽 While GO might be celebrating 15 years in 2024, our story really began more than 65,000 years ago. It's the story of our ancestors, our Elders and the generations before us who paved the way forward with the power of culture and knowledge. At GO, we celebrate this through our biannual Culture Connect Days for students on beautiful lands, including Gadigal and Darug (Sydney), Ngunnawal (Canberra) and Kaurna (Adelaide). These days create opportunities for our scholars to explore and celebrate the strength of Indigenous cultures and build relationships with one another, with many students saying that GO’s Culture Connect Days are their favourite part of our program! Our team makes sure each Culture Connect Day is different, whether it’s learning to play the Yidaki, joining a yarning circle or just kicking the footy around. Each activity is specially designed by our leaders to inspire students while connecting them with culture, identity and community, building confidence and resilience. #CultureConnect #IndigenousCulture #FutureLeaders #IndigenousEducation #15YearsAtGO

#culture #culturalsharing #reflections #selfgrowth This week is Multi-Kultural Week at Kaplan Business School, a week we celebrate cultural diversity on campus. What did I contribute this time? Yesterday was the Mid Autumn Festival, the second most important festival for Chinese culture. I wanted to do something different: introduce Chinese tea culture, something I had been thinking about for so long. But in the past, I always felt I wasn't the expert. Maybe I shouldn't do it. Have you ever had a similar moment? Talking yourself out of doing things? But these days, I learned I should always give it a try, and I am glad I did. Thanks to the support from my lovely colleagues Cooper and Karlyne, too; cheers to the teamwork! Looking back, was it hard? Yes, I spent a lot of time learning and researching. However, after hearing many participants' positive feedback, this exceeded their expectations, and they learned so much (me too), I felt happy. So, if you want to do something, do it. To challenge yourself and explore your potential feels wonderful.

Whether it’s through open conversations, team activities, or simply listening to different perspectives, each step brings us closer to a more inclusive environment. As part of my Year Up journey, I’m excited to learn how diverse voices and ideas can drive better decision-making and stronger connections. 💬✨ It’s not just about checking a box—it’s about building a culture where everyone feels valued and heard. Looking forward to learning from my peers and mentors as we continue to foster a space of belonging. How does your team embrace diversity? Let’s share and inspire each other! 🙌 #DiversityAndInclusion #YearUp #EmbraceDifferences #LearningTogether"

Helping organisations realise value by normalising change | Driving Organisational Growth through Innovative Board Advisory, Transformational Change Expertise, Strategic Planning and M&A Integration
#MidweekMotivation - "Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens." - Jimi Hendrix Try to offer your wisdom to conversations, without being attached to the outcome, being 'right,' or changing someone’s mind. 🗣️ True wisdom lies not in asserting our knowledge but in listening with an open heart and sharing our insights without attachment to outcomes. This week let's think about how we create spaces where constructive ideas flow freely, fostering growth and collaboration. It's not about being right; it's about fostering a collaborative space where knowledge flourishes to create positive change. #OpenDialogue #WisdomSharing #PerspectiveMatters

Acculturation is really tough when you enter a new work space. Values, attitudes, communications, norms are different. It is good to talk to the people, communicate and learn from them. Listen more and speak less to become a good part of a new culture. #acculturation

Inclusion Consultant | Sharing the joy of Inclusion :-D | Chief Inclusion Officer | Strategic Planner | Leadership Developer
Happy Tuesday!!! I hope your week is off to a joyful start. May is unfolding rather nicely. Why know our strengths? When we know our strengths, we can relate better to one another. We can understand why someone or even ourselves, for that matter, behaves or responds as we do. Even better, we can use our strengths to tap into other strengths. Here is a list of my top 5 strengths and the additional strengths I tap into. --- Individualization: Includer, Relator, Maximizer, Woo, Responsibility --- Intellection: Analytical, Developer, Command, Communication, Self-Assurance --- Futuristic: Strategic, Competition, Achiever, Belief, Deliberative --- Learner: Adaptability, Connectedness, Activator, Consistency, Focus --- Input: Context, Ideation, Arranger, Restorative I use ALL my strengths to create deeper connections and more inclusion. If I can do it, I know you can too! Enjoy your day! #joyofinclusion #inclusionexpansion #strengthbasedinclusion #inclusionontheslopes #SWORDInclusionSystem #PhaseTwoWhy

Friday appreciation post having spent the day indoors and warm after exploring all week! 'If the people around you strive for excellence, you raise your standards automatically' That's me paraphrasing loosely a (male) friend in a conversation that we had about building teams a couple of months ago. A few shout outs to some cool women that I've had the pleasure of crossing paths with in the last few months (in no particular order) Angelina Jardin A fab friend from university - geography has meant we've not seen one another that much over the last 20 years, but when we do, it's like hanging out with family. She's now an Entrepreneur and has a cool product that is worth checking out. Great to reconnect now that she is back in Blighty and I hope that we see one another more regularly. Alexandra Leader There's way too much complaining about how poor a recruitment process can be, but it's staggering that people don't take the opportunity to receive feedback when it is offered. Shout out to Alex, for offering, and taking the time. Hope you're all better now too! Annabel Thomas MacGregor (FRSA) We all strive to be better communicators - and making the time for a call in order to ensure things are clear is priceless. There's been numerous touch points for us in the last few months resulting in different engagements. Sometimes it is good to be redirected from where you think you are going. Thanks for making things seamless and good luck for your next adventure. Guler Cortis I'm not sure whether I'm a good 'mentor' or not. I do, however, love our catch ups. It seems I need to step up my game for tomorrow's presentation on 'Leadership beyond the Club.' Challenge accepted. Thanks also for covering next week's 'huddle' so that I can go off exploring. #representationmatters As I reflect on my week just gone, six teenagers were given the opportunity to be timekeeper to my chair. Five of them were young women. Yesterday in particular, they got to use my infamous gavel. Keeping warm this weekend for another week of exploring beckons - starting with an Portfolio People drop in on Monday and Freddie Daniells #masterclass on #speechwriting #feedback #evaluation #continuousimprovement #permanentbeta #lifelonglearning #leadershiplessons

In a week and time where education is taking a well-deserved vacation, my new leader took her personal time today to welcome me, take me out to lunch, and just see me as a human with identities outside of an employee. I learned more about the responsibilities of a leader and culture building in one day than I ever have before. Here’s to learning and growing much, much more in my next chapter! #NewBeginnings #LetsGo
