I don't have a dog in this hunt but can speak about my wife's experience as a teacher at a Title I school in a different suburban school district here in the KC metro area. Having parents, grandparents, and other friends and family who are middle class or higher makes a huge difference when it comes to PTO and other school-related fundraising. We get wanting to supplement activities and resources for your own kids; but, at what point does it become an unfair advantage over lower-income families and students who don't have the same resources? Can you imagine the fuss that would be created if you even suggested sharing supplemental funding from one school to another? How would you handle the disparity?
One Shawnee Mission school raised $610,000 in donations, while another only got $300

It’s extremely hard to run a business. In some ways it’s even harder to run a nonprofit especially if you stick to the mission. One of challenges of running a nonprofit is that it’s set up to rely either heavily or significantly on grants and donations. Philanthropy is a very complex system. For example, you can apply for grants but they often take 3-6 months to make decisions so you are often playing a guessing game on will the organization get it or not. Now add to that a nonprofit that is based in education, especially in school districts that struggle to have resources and even struggle to be able and afford supplies for their students and teachers to use. Yeah, it’s rough. And then if you are an organization that focuses on mental health and social emotional learning in schools you have the challenge of only about 2 percent of philanthropy going to the cause you are working on. And school districts also spend very minimally on. It’s tough. And what becomes clear is that in all of the funding is not prioritized in the systems themselves. Hence the need for the nonprofits to exist but extremely challenging because the lack of philanthropy and earned revenue is huge.

Can you please help Teachers' Treasures, Inc. by donating to this worthy cause today? Our big fundraiser Dream will be on February 29, 2024. Our big ask is the dessert dash where every table gets a dessert donated by a local bakery but the order the table gets to select their dessert is determined by how much money they raise. Please help the Rising Phoenix Leadership table raise money for Teachers' Treasures, Inc. No Donation is too small. See more about Teachers' Treasures, Inc. below the link. Here is the link: https://lnkd.in/gcdNerVM Every day at public, charter, and parochial schools located throughout Marion County, children of all ages attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much-needed supplies out of their own pockets to make sure the kids in their classrooms have the necessary tools to learn. On average, teachers spend $800-$1200 a year on school supplies for their students. Our Answer Teachers’ Treasures, in partnership with local businesses, charitable foundations, neighborhood organizations and individual contributors, helps fill this need by operating a volunteer-based “Store for Teachers.” Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students. We serve teachers from any school (public, private, charter, or parochial) in Marion County and the immediate surrounding school districts with 60% or more of the student population on the free or reduced lunch programs.

At Mobile Giving Foundation Canada (MGFC), we’re proud to partner with incredible charities like EducationMatters to make community fundraising more effective. EducationMatters Text to Donate campaigns support local schools by allowing donors to contribute directly to specific schools within the Calgary Board of Education through unique sub-keywords, enhancing the impact of each donation. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? EducationMatters Text to Donate offers a quick and convenient way to support ongoing initiatives, projects, and campaigns at Calgary Board of Education (CBE) schools. By simply sending a text message, donors become integral parts of a community dedicated to providing students with the tools and resources they need to succeed. HOW DOES IT WORK? 1️⃣ Compose a Text Message: Open your messaging app and create a new text message. 2️⃣ Enter the Recipient: In the “To” field, type “30333.” 3️⃣ Type the Message: Enter “EdMatters” followed by the unique keyword for the CBE school you want to support. If you don’t have a school in mind, you can contribute to EducationMatters Area of Greatest Need by texting EdMatters without a keyword. 4️⃣ Choose the Amount: Donate $5 or $10 based on your preference. Send the Message: Hit “Send,” and your donation will be added to your monthly cellphone bill. 5️⃣ Support Students Ongoing: After receiving a confirmation message, you will be asked to give monthly and can opt-in to become a monthly giver. Mobile Giving Foundation Canada (MGFC) is overjoyed to support EducationMatters in this modern approach to fundraising. Together, we’re shaping the future of public education and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. #EducationMatters #CommunityFundraising #TextToDonate #SupportSchools #PublicEducation #MGFC #CalgaryBoardOfEducation #ImpactfulGiving #CharitySupport

Public colleges and universities are higher education institutions that are mainly funded by state governments. In contrast, private colleges and universities rely more heavily on student tuition fees, alumni donations, and endowments to fund their academic programs. Private colleges can be either for-profit or nonprofit. For-profit colleges are run like businesses and are most concerned with generating a profit, while nonprofit private colleges focus on providing students with a quality education. As a result, nonprofit colleges generally boast better reputations than for-profit schools. crd.

Do you know the financial of your kids' school Parent Teacher Association (PTA)? PTA is a non-profit entity that pour funds to support teachers and class activities. PTAs often rely on donations and fundraising from families to cover these expenses. However, did you know that PTAs can also generate income through various programs and initiatives? By offering products or services to the community, PTAs can establish additional revenue streams. Activities like tutoring programs, camps, or food booths can serve as lucrative ventures. Take, for example, the story of a PTA president who sold morning coffee for a year, she raised enough funds to construct sheds for hundreds of students at their child's school - a testament to the impact of creative fundraising strategies. Moreover, PTAs can seek financial support from local, state, or federal agencies, as well as other non-profits. Collaborating with external sources can significantly enhance the resources available to support educational initiatives for our future generations. Let's join forces to empower our schools and educators by exploring innovative ways to sustain and expand the valuable work of PTAs. Together, we can make a difference in shaping a brighter future for our children. #nonprofit #fundraising #communitysupport #education #PTA #innovation
