The 1990's Denver Airport Baggage fiasco is one of the most notorious project failures in history. 2000 bags were not loaded onto their respective flights. Imagine being one of those people! The main reason behind this epic project management disaster - a lack of organization. It caused confusion, chaos, and a delay in development and testing. Challenges were not dealt with on time and the end result cost the airport millions of dollars. How do you keep things organized as a PM? Share in the comments below and repost to get this discussion going! #OPMC #ProjectManagement #Oman #ProjectFails #Organization #Management #EpicFails

Why does a pilot do a 'walk-around' prior to accepting an aircraft? 👩✈️ 👨✈️ 🛫 Why do service delivery organisations want strong project governance? Well, as pilots, we of course want to ensure that we haven't left any engineers on engines. 👨🔬 (I promise that we got this one down before take-off!) A pilot trusts: ▶ The manufacturer (we do). ▶ That the latest maintenance check has been completed correctly. ▶ That the engineer has accomplished everything pre-flight that they should have done (they actually sign the aircraft over to us). ▶ That the loadmaster has correctly calculated our weight and it’s distribution. But we don’t take the aircraft without doing a final high level check ourselves. Whilst trust is essential, so is due diligence. The final check is nothing at all to do with a lack of trust, it is all part of the governance of safe flight. It is the same with service delivery organisations: Resources are trusted. But… ▶ There is often little visibility of project status, potential risks, budget burn, actual vs scheduled, etc. ▶ Disruptions happen. ▶ Real-time project financial reports can be difficult to create. ▶ Even customer reports can be really difficult to create! Organisations want to see that all is well and they want to be able to easily show their customers that all is well. They also want to be able to predict overruns or delays before they even happen! Right governance - makes aviation safe, and makes projects run better. And that's why service delivery organisations choose Certinia. #trust #governance #visibility #flight #projects #customercentricity

Our monthly project spotlight for February is not a singular project but an entirely newly established department! Did you know that Project Controls first took flight over eight years ago on the Fuel System Improvement Program (FSIP)? Since then, it’s been soaring across JWI systemwide, expanding its wingspan with each passing project and program. Evolving Project Controls into a standalone discipline and department was the strategic move forward JWI needed to optimize resource allocation, streamline utilization, and harness diverse skill sets. JWI currently provides project controls support on large-scale programs like ORD21 and DEN IPMSS as well as hangar projects and staff augmentation. These projects and programs are vast, so by having dedicated experts to provide cost control, budget management, and accounting, we're not just enhancing project efficiency but also improving turnaround time and unlocking cost savings for our clients. Moreover, our meticulous invoicing management ensures that our clients receive the funds they need promptly, empowering them to continue their exceptional work. Angela Dillon, our recently spotlighted Senior Project Controls Manager, has worked tirelessly with other members of the new team to bring this dream to life. We are grateful to have such innovative and motivated staff who continue to work towards new and exciting goals. Internal projects like this keep JWI moving upward, and we couldn’t do so without celebrating THE best people! #Chicago #Denver #Orlando #construction #aviation #transportation #constructionmanagement #projectmanagement
