After 30+ conversations with golf software CEO's, here's 5 things I've learnt on what it takes to build a great product for our golf clubs 👇 - Success takes time, and simply staying in the game IS success. Whether it be Raghad Mukhaimer from golfscape who's been running for 11 years, or Matt Reagan, PGA from Operation 36 Golf who spent many years a s a PGA pro prior to launching their business, the overnight success doesn't exist. - Many products start from a one-of customer who requests a specific feature for their golf club. I think of Jake Peek for Your Golf Booking, who told his story of receiving a very specific request from a driving range in England, which led him down the rabbit hole of driving range technology. - You don't always finish where you start, Many products transform and adapt over the years. I think of Obbi Golf and Gareth Macklin's story, who I've known for many years, who pivoted to the golf industry after identifying a real opportunity to innovate in the Health, Safety and Compliance space in the golf industry. - Network is critical The golf industry is a tight- knit space, and trust is everything when you are building a brand in here. We've had many friends in the space, either in golf clubs or in the tech side of things, who have helped us on our journey with Handicaddie to date. I think of Sean Wiseman, who brought me to Kingsbarns a few years ago to experience the life of a caddiemaster, or Paul Vaughan PGA from Ardglass, our first customer on the platform who gave us a tremendous amount of feedback early on which shaped our product roadmap. -Golf Club staff want us to succeed Sometimes it may feel like a them vs us mentality, but I've seen that not be true. Good products make golf clubs better, period. I truly believe our industry becomes better when we show generosity and willingness to help others, many times with no expectations in return. So with that being said.. If you're working in a club, and you are seeking advice on software solutions for part of your operations. Or if you are a golf founder, seeking some intro's or just a second opinion. My inbox is always open ⛳ Posted inspiration by my conversation last night with Elias Knudsen, Frederik. #golf #founder

“There are a number of things that set Toptracer apart when we look at the range technology market, but the biggest thing that we look to at the moment is trust," Ben Sharpe, President of Toptracer, told The Golf Business in a recent cover story. "We are the most trusted product in the market, both when you look at the number of venues that use our technology, but also the way that our technology works," Sharpe added. To learn more about evolving market dynamics within the golf industry and how Toptracer has maintained its position as golf’s most trusted range technology, check out the full interview below! #toptracer #toptracerrange #1inrange #golf #golfnews #golfindustry #drivingrange #golftechnology #rangetechnology #golfcourseowners #golfcourseoperators

Sports App Development - Advisor - Entrepreneur - Golf Product Founder - Former Ad Agency Owner - 1x Hole-in-One in St. Andrews
We are really excited to launch Rota Golf today! Shoutout to my wife Alicia Konkel who has been leading the development of our new golf product. My passion for golf goes back 30+ years when I first picked up a club. I was fortuntate enough to learn this great game from my father, who worked in the golf industry most of his career. Some of my fondest memories are playing golf with family and friends at some of the best golf courses in the world: Pebble Beach with my wife after the exit of my first company, St. Andrews after ICE London this year, Pinehurst for The Barstool Classic, Whistling Straits 3-weeks before the Ryder Cup. I wanted to commemorate those incredible experiences with a statement peice that I could showcase in my office but couldn't find a high-end product representative of those great memories. Cheap push pin canvas maps just weren't going to do the trick... Our goal is to allow golfers to track their travels across the country's Top 100 Public Golf Courses and use our Centurion Map as their ultimate bucket list. Whether it's for your office, a man cave, bonus room or as a gift for that hard to buy for golfer, we believe Rota Golf Maps will allow you to remember past experiences on the links and plan for new ones. We're just getting started and have a lot to learn about running an e-commerce business. For now, we are just going to have fun with it and do a little travel to cross off more courses on our list. Check out the site below and let us know what you think! Maybe we can even provide a coupon code for any LinkedIn connections wanting to add a piece of golf art to their walls... #golf #ecommerce #startup #familybusiness #bucketlist

Agree Andrew and operators do not have to worry about extra staff because with Nexxchange cloud-based Golf Operations SaaS, you can even setup your range to run certain times of the day or season - staff free - by offering online booking of stalls, having an onsite terminal for bookings and payment, ball dispensers working with a card and IoT drink dispensers using a QR code, etc. Or free up the time of your existing staff with Nexxchange services so that they can focus on value-added tasks such as growing your local market ⛳ #nexxchange #golfmanagement #saas #cloud #onlinepayment

Here's my recent take on the off course modern golf world, this time starting with driving ranges. What do you think? Golf in 2024 is apparently in a good place. Just a few years ago golf saw huge growth through COVID. With its benefits being championed and new and lapsed players returning we saw the game grow. Well where are we now in 2024? My opinion is that golf has missed a great opportunity on the whole and here's why. As someone who has worked in golf and leisure for 20 years now it's moved on at a snail's pace. Driving ranges are a way to ease new players into the game aren't they? There are a few great ranges but on the whole most of the UK's ranges are terrible. Either they are not covered (it rains in the UK!) or at best covered by a run-down adapted shed. The experience is borderline dreadful whether it be golf balls that are dirty, no drinks on offer or a terrible outfield with a few flags or no engaging technology. These places won't attract anyone except the avid golfer looking to hone their swing but they could be so much more. I recently visited a very popular range and contrary to the above the place was packed. Were the mats and balls shiny? No they weren’t. The whole experience was pretty underwhelming but they thrive off an amazing location. The location is so good that the fact the range isn't in good condition doesn’t affect them greatly but that’s not an option for 90% of driving ranges. For clubs and facilities embracing their ranges they are attracting families and new golfers and growing their business. By adding technology, simple and tasty F&B offerings, having a good bookable website (this is rare) these once run down sheds in a field can become a lucrative business reaching far wider than a few golfers. With the squeeze on everyone's pockets, having a good attractive online presence and then delivering a great experience are key to driving golf into its next growth or is range golf a separate sporting activity altogether? As a modern golf advocate let me know your thoughts and let's grow the range game together. #golf #golfindustry #sportsentertainment #socialentertainment
