I talk about strategy, project management, and career development for professionals in the healthcare industry | Two decades in management consulting | National HIMSS/ HFMA Speaker
Is PAU policy still necessary in Maryland? That’s the question that is where the beginning of my analysis started. ~~~~~~~~~ As I considered this question, the logical quesitons that came up for me were, ✅ Do they incentivize the behavior from the provider community to focus on preventative care to decrease the likelihood of worsening health? ✅ Is a narrow definition equally as effective as a broad definition? Meaning if we defined PAUs as only intra-hospital readmissions would it create the same behavior as including inter-hospital readmissions? ✅ Does a PAU policy create the best incentive for these behaviors or are there other policies that could be equal or better incentives? ✅ Do PAU policies create an environment where providers are more likely to identify more cost effective options for patients, identify unnecessary care, and low quality care? Each of these questions need to be considered in the context of not only guiding behavior, but also ensuring fairness, regulating activities, managing risks, enhancing efficiency, ensuring accountability, and providing protection to the public, clinicians, and other stakeholders in the health and business community. ❓What are your initial quesitons that come to mind when you consider whether PAU policy is still necessary?

Spending more time at home during weekends has given me more time for myself, so I decided to enroll in this course on Infodemic Management from the World Health Organization, and I got my completion certificate today! Thank you to the WHO and the Infodemic Management Board for putting together this initiative to address the growing threat of health disinformation and how public health professionals can be equipped to deal with it within our local networks. Addressing health disinformation is crucial because it can lead to serious consequences for public health, individual well-being, and societal trust. Isn't that our main goal as healthcare providers? To empower everyone to make decisions about their health and well-being based on truthful information. By addressing health disinformation - we can help protect our existing framework, maintain trust in our healthcare systems, and ensure that people have the accurate information they need to make informed health decisions. Let's do this guys! 💪
