Unlike movies, where you can have anywhere from 50-300 people working on a project, depending on the scale and type of production, TV broadcasts, especially news production teams for a show, are often small, ranging from hardly 10-20 people, including transmission. The camera department alone on the set of a sizeable TV or film production would have a DOP, camera operators, steadycam op, drone pilot, several assistants, a gaffer and several lighting assistants, a key grip and several grips/rigging technicians and sometimes 'swings'. And that is not counting the audio department and DIT/DMT of course. News? A news videographer is a one-man (production) band. You are the DP, camera op, grip, audio recorder and often the editor. Did I mention the stand-in? So you can frame, expose and pre-focus before the guest/host arrives. Thankfully, technology today has given us some amazing monitoring tools, including wireless devices that make life much easier if you're a one-man production. This isn't a promotion, but I must mention the amazing DJI wireless transmission device, that acts as an accurate monitor/recorder while allowing you to move around and adjust what you need to. A dummy human would still help though 😄 😛 #dji #monitor #wirelessmonitor #news #newsproduction #cbc #cbcnews

🔃🎥👌 Filming vertical is a pretty common element of my work now. But, it’s not always easy to rig for vertical… Until now! 😅 I’m sure people have already worked out rigs like this (or better), however this is my latest attempt at a practical vertical video rig, and I’m stoked! If you have additional ideas though, let me know! #videographer #verticalvideo

THE DEDOLIGHT LIGHTSTREAM FLAG SYSTEM: HARD AND SOFT LIGHT FROM A SINGLE SOURCE Controlling the ratio of hard light to soft light is the skill of the cinematographer; the dedolight Lightstream Flag system offers the tools to control and direct the light as needed.
