What's wrong with the sustainability industry? Given the sheer number of years and excessive governance systems in place to address global issues, the sustainability industry still hasn't been effective at significantly improving the world, let alone saving it. After 29 COPs, we are here at 1.5°C... 🌡🌡🌡 Many suspect there is something deeply wrong about the sustainability industry, and have been questioning their roles within it for some time now. These suspicions are getting louder and louder. We are starting to hear them uttered in the open at industry events, asking, "What is sustainability actually sustaining?" On 20th and 28th December, Lavinia Muth hosts workshops on navigating uncomfortable and even taboo topics within sustainability. More information at https://lnkd.in/g2wiHZiw 🌬💨🌊

I’m pleased to share the Alinta Energy 2024 Sustainability Report, showcasing our ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainable progress across the 3 P's – People, Planet, and Prosperity. With a strong record of pioneering solutions, we’ve reached key milestones in the past few years —from Australia’s first grid-forming battery to one of Western Australia’s largest and most efficient wind farms, Yandin. But we’re just getting started. This year, the cost of living crisis brought affordability into more focus. In response, we increased payment support to an all-time high and launched the Better Energy Efficiency program to help customers and communities experiencing vulnerability. I’m also proud to have launched our first Reconciliation Action Plan and to have seen our CEO, Jeff Dimery, openly discuss at the Press Club the challenges we need to overcome to scale renewables. Despite these challenges, we have a development pipeline worth over $10 billion in renewable energy and storage projects, including offshore wind and pumped hydro "mega projects," (cost >$1bn). To me, the path ahead may be bumpy, but being “in the arena, with faces marred with dust” is vital to tackling these complex challenges so we can ensure that the future of energy remains bright. A big congratulations to the sustainability team for this years report Fiona Martin Siraj Jardine #sustainabilityreport #sustainability #community #ESG #People #Planet #Prosperity #energytransition #AlintaEnergy
