Meaningful change in the legal industry? Good luck with that. We should be implementing broad, technology based solutions that provide essential services to people who need them. But big firms are making record profits; most industry bureaucrats lack the incentive, interest, or imagination to push for meaningful change; and too many solos and small firm lawyers don't want to change or fail to appreciate the opportunities presented. Public protection is a talking point, not a goal. The solution - in my opinion - is for the innovators to push ahead. Once enough alternative services are available, the market will force the industry to change. Options empower consumers, and they will be a much more successful catalyst for change than anything from the inside.
