On a recent shoot I got asked "Why didn't you choose photography?" This got me thinking about how I got started in video in the first place... The first time stumbled upon Premiere Pro to edit something. It dawned on me, The limitless possibilities to create. Anything you can think of, you can make happen. From there I would go on to buy my first video camera. From there I would realize how immense the world of video truly is. From the Lighting to the Color Grade to the Lenses to the Storytelling to the Sound Design and so on and so on. Each aspect is a whole world of it's own. Being able to take all I've learned in each of these worlds to help other brands and businesses grow, is one of the best things in my world. So to answer the original question: It was never a choice between photography and videography. It could of just as easily been photo. 💡 Controlling light is key to every shot we take. 🔦 It's what occupies the vast majority of our studio time, once the creative concept and composition are nailed. To avoid harsh highlights, reflective items generally demand a soft light, with gentle gradients. But soft light is a killer for defined shadows, so to get the drama into this shot, we used a combination of both! It doesn't make our lives easy, but we do love to take dramatic hero shots, so mastering this type of lighting has been key for us. If your product deserves some drama, we'd love to oblige!
