Disruptive Corporate Misfit turned Grocery Consultant | Driving Innovation across Meat, Seafood, & Retail
I'm feeling relief as this is the 1st Memorial Day weekend in 10 years that I'm not responsible for Kroger's patty supply. Thanksgiving is the big holiday for most Category Managers but my team's time to shine was Memorial Day & July 4th. Running a supply chain with only 18 days of shelf life limits inventory availability but we managed to thrive and grow sales on patties especially 10 for $10 for 10 straight years. The most memorable Memorial Day holiday was the first (only 3 months in role). Our shelf life was only 11 days at that time and we projected our demand would exceed capacity in our mid-west divisions. Sure enough, we needed double what we could make. I was working with our suppliers to triage orders for 4 straight days to maximize the production. We had 6 weeks until the July 4 holiday so we had to learn and adapt quickly. We projected orders further out, created an A/B schedule to limit changeovers, and used excess capacity to offset in other regions. I love working in perishables because you don't have time to wallow on mistakes. You have to react, learn, and adapt to be successful for the long term because the clock is always ticking. Have a great grilling weekend! #groceryretail #processimprovement #cpg

Happy #FACSfamFriday, everyone! Emily Davison, MBA, one of our Business Development Managers and lover of antique collecting, is next to enter our spotlight. Check out Emily's responses to our questions below, as well as a photo of Emily with her mom and sister. Do you have any questions for Emily or other FACS employees you'd like to see answered in the next #FACSfamFriday? Let us know by commenting on this post. What’s your favorite thing about working at FACS? The people! The average tenure at FACS was very impressive to me when I first found FACS, and I see the passion expressed in great work on a daily basis. Not to mention the amount of brainpower amongst our experts! Very proud to represent them in my role. What is one thing we don't know about you (non-work-related)? I've always loved collecting antiques. On a Saturday/Sunday, you can find me out hunting for unique pieces. What is one thing that you geek out about? Home improvement--Laying the tile in my condo was incredibly fun! What is one way that you unwind? A run outside, a good fiction book, or meditation. Depends on where I'm drained. What is your favorite sweet treat? Ice cream cake. What celebrity would you like to meet at Starbucks for a cup of coffee? Sade. What is one of your favorite books? The Four Agreements :)

David Rowe and Matthew Deacon , I believe that you will do great things with this one. Dutch Bros Coffee , this is the first of many. Let’s celebrate them together. Russ Orsi , we shared many a meal together discussing this one. #construction #coffee #restaurants #environment #teambuilding #careeradvancement #change #experience #business #future #mindfulness #design #artificialintelligence #customerexperience #ai #consultants #leadership #leader #leadershipfirst #europeanleadership #management #qsr # #development #changemanagement #futureofwork #machinelearning #technology #empathy #culture #team #innovation #collaboration #strategy #digital #peoplefirst #motivation #transformation #environment # #restaurantdesign #work #career #ecornell #cornelluniversity #managementdevelopment # #opportunity #customercommunication #dubai #executivesandmanagement #successfulmindset
Saturday Night Update from Dutch Bros Coffee, and this one is freaking long-awaited and awesome. Our "Party in the Parking Lot" expansion has come to Concord, CA. Located at 4672 Clayton Rd., Concord, CA, this beauty is the fifth location for operator David Rowe and his team of slayers. Norcal has been our second home for a long time, and we keep inching closer to the Bay Area. We are so honored to grow in this community. Creating jobs and a compelling future in the communities that support us and allow us to make a difference is at the heart of what we do daily. Matthew Deacon and Lance Risser will support this mission for us here. Story time- Did you ever have one of those projects that you really wanted, and it just found a way to break your heart over and over again? That was our project here in Concord. At one point in the not-so-distant past, this project was listed as DOA. Kelli Sparkman and I had moved on. My finance team had a "spirited" conversation with me about this one. Tripp Androy and Jason McCarty made a strong argument, and we renewed our focus. 6 months later, this store is ready to open. One of these days, over a great cup of coffee, I'll share the entire story. Gurinder Kehr joined us specifically to work alongside Russ Orsi and Wally Tirheimer and drive this project home. We liked him so much that we have kept him as a permanent member of the team. Mark Baker had fun with the design here. There were too many obstacles here, but patience really did pay off, and the finished result speaks for itself. Harry Raft, as much as I want to say let's never do this again, I am so happy with our team and the result, I'm down for another fight. If you have never been to a Dutch Bros Coffee, go now!! It does not matter what you order; everything is three kinds of awesome and will change your life, but I suggest you try the GOLD MEDAL REBEL™ Strawberry blended energy drink w/ Soft Top™ and red, white, and blue star sprinks. Thank you to Leigh Gower, Victoria Tullett , Christine B., Tana Davila, Josh Guenser and Sumi Ghosh for leading the brand and allowing us to open these #dutchlove distribution centers each week. Shout out to Charles Swindler, Lance Risser, Levi Ayriss, and the thankless team of Mobsters who create this magic daily. May Han, Erin Belisle, Lauren Schwab, Jenny James, and Marissa Mecca, stay cool; we owe you one for the success of this project. #coffee #creatingjobs #compellingfuture #community #rebel #dutchbros #dutchlove #Concord #icsc #retaillive

"We've diversified our income stream. That's how we insure against rejection." Tara Hankinson recalls standing outside many a bar, crying her eyes out. Yet another traditional bar had said 'no' to her craft beer offering made for-- and by --women. Speaking at her Williamsburg taproom this week, the Talea Beer co-founder recalls the early years of rejection. Since founding their company in 2019, she and her co-founder fortified against employees quitting, a down revenue month, a pandemic, by doing one key thing --Diversifying their income stream. 75% of Talea's revenue comes from the 4 taprooms in the NYC metro area. 25% from wholesale sales. Owner/Manager at Transworld Business Advisors of La Grange. Business Broker. Helping individuals and/or group investors transition out or into businesses as part of their work life transition.
Super congrats to Kristina Wynne, MPH for getting this one across the finish line. As noted, we're going to feature our four closings this month each day during this short week! Such a great, calm seller on this one through the process and a buyer that really understands the goodwill that the seller built over MANY years. Let us help you at least have a confidential conversation about the possibility of transitioning your business. #petbusiness #petsupply #pets #businessbrokerage #tworld #sellmybusiness #sold
CLOSING OF THE DAY! For this short 4-day work week, we're featuring the four CLOSES that happened in our office this month. This pet supply store seller and buyer were a joy to work with. Once the price and terms were agreed upon, it was a smooth transaction that just took a little longer than most. We're happy for the international buyer and the seller that has done a tremendous job building tremendous goodwill and a legacy of this independent store. Congrats to both of them and our agent, Kristina Wynne that help them get across the finish line! Let us help you sell your business today. 708-328-8800 for more info.
