"We're NOT a Cinderella, because when we play our A-game, we can be the best team on the floor." ~ Jack Gohlke, Oakland Golden Grizzles Guard after upsetting # 3 Seeded Kentucky Wildcats in last evening's NCAA Tournament. What is a "Cinderella" in Sports and is there a Parallel to the Logistics Industry? In sports, a "Cinderella" team refers to an underdog unexpectedly excelling and overcoming the odds to succeed. This term captures the imagination of fans and media, portraying these teams as unexpected successes in the grand tapestry of competition. However, to the athletes themselves and those within the team, the label "Cinderella" doesn't resonate. They understand the immense work, grit, and belief in one another that brought them to this point. Their journey isn't a fairy tale; it's the result of hard, consistent effort and unwavering determination. This concept finds a parallel in the logistics industry, particularly within our team at Rhode Sense. It's not about magical transformations but about the relentless hard work, detailed planning, and teamwork that goes into our efforts. In logistics, as in sports, success is not just about overcoming visible challenges. It's about the countless hours of preparation, the attention to detail, and the collective belief that no obstacle is insurmountable. At Rhode Sense, we embody this in every project we undertake. We don't wait for a fairy godmother; we create our own destiny, one delivery at a time. Remember, a Cinderella story is only so to the outside world. To those who live it, it's a testament to their commitment and hard work. In the spirit of Rhode Sense, we continue to operate by our guiding motto: "Where there's a road, we'll find a way." Come check us out when you have LTL, Truckload, Flatbed, Cross Border, or complex Projects under analysis - Info@RhodeSense.com #Logistics #Teamwork #RhodeSense #SuccessStories #BeyondCinderella

It’s another Parkrun-inspired post… This time, it’s about going downhill. A few weeks ago I ran a new Parkrun course. My usual course is flat, 3 laps on pavement, so it’s pretty easy to get into a rhythm and keep at a steady pace. Many runners come to my park when they’re aiming for a Personal Best because of the flat and easy terrain. The new course I tried last week involved some woods, some uphill parts, some downhill, and then more woods and mud. It was hard! I was huffing and puffing like I rarely do on my usual flat run (*edit: I always huff and puff, but this was more! 😁 ). What I took away from the experience, though, was about the importance of resting. When things are uphill and hard, and you’re really having to exert yourself, it takes a toll. Things take more energy on the uphill. I really had to allow myself to enjoy it on the downhill parts. To rest a bit and go easy. So, when you’re coming down off the project, and you’ve had your foot on the gas… Or when you’ve been through a super-hectic phase or season in life or work… Or when things have just felt like a slog, like a real sense of it being “an uphill battle”... Then please, please, let yourself come gently down. Cool your jets. Relax the parts that have been so active and getting it all done. Take in the scenery, look around you, notice how far you’ve come. But please enjoy the downhill and the flat terrain when you’re on them. Uphills will arrive again, so for now, when it’s flat, appreciate the chance to breathe and to rest. #ship30for30 #coaching #rest #parkrun

How often do you take the moving walkways at the airport? Do you walk on them or do you ride on them? Why do we like the moving walkways? What are the traps of moving walkways? Daily Shake Up No. 954 borrows a lesson from moving walkways about life and leadership. While moving walkways offer some advantages (easy, quicker (if you keep walking) and the opportunity to rest and let the walkway do the work), there are some significant disadvantages. First, the ease of walkways negates the opportunity to get the benefits of actually walking. While easy and quick can be appealing, the effort of walking is good for our minds, bodies and spirits. Second and most important, once you’re on a walkway you can’t adjust, pivot or change course until you come to the end of that walkway. You’re stuck where you are until the walkway end – not when you want to make a change. Life is full of adjustments and pivot (often required in the immediate moment) but walkways eliminate or minimize our pivot opportunities. Where are you taking the easy or quick route in life and in what ways might that route be minimizing your innovation and growth opportunities? Perhaps, it’s as simple as falling prey to “we’ve always done it that way” (one of the giant moving walkways of life). While easy and quicker can be appealing, it’s not always the right choice! #SnowGlobeLeadership #NischwitzGroup #SnowGlobeLiving #Leadership #MovingWalkways #Innovation

At #Quantic school of business and technology we were asked to do a study on the #Brompton company. I agree with the CEO #willbutleradams - Cities cannot be planned exclusively by the government, the business and the people have to participate. This interview was done 5+ years ago, but I find his comments still pertinent to this day. Hope you get a chance to watch it as he speaks of #health, #happiness, and #Brexit.
