In preparation for potential storms, our team is partnering with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to conduct overnight tests on flood doors in the Hugh L. Carey and Queens Midtown Tunnels. The tests will evaluate eight flood doors, each weighing over 20 tons and nearly 2 feet thick, to ensure their reliability and effectiveness in blocking water from infiltrating tunnels during a coastal storm.
