I join day two of the APEC "Closing the Digital Skills Gap" Forum in Seattle along with hundreds of leaders from Government, Academia, and Industry. 16 Economies are represented from around Asia Pacific. Experts are talking about the needs and opportunities to collaborate to develop workforce solutions to raise the tide across all constituents. Examples have been provided of programs being developed and implemented in the various countries and regions. We have discussed everything from K-12 thru University, the need for collaboration from Industry. The value of various credentials, micro credential and standards for the issuance. Engagement of Employers in the development of curriculum, , apprenticeships, internships for experiential learning, and to help develop a talent pipeline for their future workforce supply. We discussed the fact that most jobs don't require STEM degrees, how many people can join the workforce with several months training versus years. How we need to encourage people of all backgrounds to join the Digital workforce at an early age, by creating programs in the K-12 segment. Support from Government is needed to help fund the incremental training, reskilling and upskilling to enable people to become contributing members of the community. Support from Mentors to help give back and help guide young people through the maze of challenges along the way. My compliments to Christopher Watson of DOL and Ambassador Matt Murphy, all the participants, the support staff for bringing such an outstanding event to Seattle and providing the opportunity for us all to participate, share and learn. #APECDigitalMonth #MindtheDigitalSkillsGap #comptia #apec

Time to swap deadlines for daiquiris and meetings for margaritas! 🍹 After over 40 years of dedicated service to the IT industry, including stints at TI, AT&T, Compaq, HP, and HPE, I’m thrilled to announce my retirement part II from the Computing Technology Industry Association, CompTIA. It’s been an incredible journey filled with unforgettable memories, endless laughter, and a few too many coffee runs! Reflecting on the evolution of technology over those years is truly remarkable – from Mainframe Data Centers and Mini Computers to Distributed Computing, Client Server, PC, Converged, Hyper Converged, and the resurgence of Data Centers serving up Cloud and Edge compute. To my amazing colleagues and friends, thank you for making every workday feel like a breeze (even when we were chasing deadlines like it was an Olympic sport). Your support, camaraderie, and occasional shenanigans have made this chapter of my life truly special. As I embark on this new adventure called retirement, I promise to master the art of napping, perfect my golf swing (or at least try to), and become a full-time expert in relaxation. 🛌💤 Remember, this isn’t goodbye; it’s just ‘I’ll see you at the next... barbecue!’ 🌞🍔 Wishing you all continued success, laughter, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the little moments both inside and outside the office. Special thanks to the Think Tank Members who kept my mind spinning with all the latest and greatest: Russell, Rob, Ann Marie, Kelly, Drew, Tacy, Carlos, Marni, Sarah, Gordon, Alex, Catherine, Kathy, Barbara, Scott, Lawaune, Laine, Tom, Hannah, and Sunil. The opportunity to consider the possibilities of the future of learning and work, how we could influence it based on our joint experiences, finding pathways forward was an unforgettable journey and way to give back to our community. Catch you on the flip side!"

Is anyone concerned by the increasing Cyber attacks on Cloud infrastructure by the Russian based SVR Group? It seems major players are downplaying the risks, are we sure? It's time we got serious about stopping them before they take down some critical systems like the power grid, water, or supply chain. https://lnkd.in/gXziEcyy #cybersecurity #cyberattack #comptia

"This story is part of CNBC Make It’s Ditching the Degree series, where women who have built six-figure careers without a bachelor’s degree reveal the secrets of their success." These stories are becoming more and more common as we see the artificial degree requirements being removed from most jobs and, instead, skills, attitude, aptitude, and drive are becoming the hiring priorities. Do you have a story, know someone who does? Let me know; I will gladly share. #comptia #skills #certification https://lnkd.in/gygcUUR4
