This month, our IVLP visitors had the privilege of meeting with Brian Fonseca, Director at the FIU Jack D Gordon Institute for Public Policy at Florida International University. Mr. Fonseca shared his valuable research on the collaboration between the Department of Defense and academic institutions in advancing data and analytical capabilities within the justice system. We would also like to thank Ms. Melba Pearson for sharing her work, particularly in developing new performance indicators and tackling racial and ethnic disparities, providing our visitors with a unique perspective on policy implementation and reform. We are immensely thankful to Mr. Fonseca and his team for not only sharing his expertise but also facilitating a dialogue with prosecutors involved in training programs aimed at enhancing the justice system’s efficiency and fairness.
