When our Colleagues actively listen and respond to our patients, magic happens. When hospice social worker Claire Gisel learned that her patient never fulfilled her lifelong dream of seeing and touching the ocean, she got to work. Claire secured a four-day trip to Florida for the patient and her husband to stay at a hotel on the beach, dip her toes in the ocean and watch sunrises over the water. Thanks to Claire's compassionate attention, the patient and her husband were able to make priceless memories before the patient passed away. For that reason, Claire received the Commitment to Compassion Award at the 2023 MACademy Awards. Congratulations, Claire! #CommunityHealthcare

Imitate the practice. 🌱 In hospice care, we can learn a lot from Brené's approach. Creating a safe space for end-of-life discussions involves trust, openness, and a judgment-free zone. 🤗 1. Start with empathy – understand the unique journey of each patient and family. 2. Cultivate openness – encourage sharing feelings without fear of judgment. 3. Foster a supportive environment – ensure everyone feels heard and respected. The results will follow. 🌟 Join our community to normalize the conversation about end-of-life care. 💬 #EndOfLifeCare #HospiceSupport #CompassionateConversations #normalizingtheconversation

End of life decisions can be incredibly difficult for patients, though we can help patients make these decisions and share their wishes with family and their care team. This webinar should be helpful for health care staff who wish to learn how to guide patients though the end of life decision-making process.
Join us on April 25th as we discuss End of Life Decisions: Perspectives from a Hospice Care Coordinator, Educator and Advocate. During this session, we will welcome guest speaker Kate Daniels, a veteran in the hospice world. With over 14 years of experience guiding seniors and decision-makers through end-of-life care, Kate will provide valuable perspectives during this session. Register now: https://lnkd.in/etbChmNc
