Circling as movement of lingering: Portugal is developing a 3000 km trail that perambulates lesser known, beautiful places, partly to entice people away from overcrowded tourist sites, while highlighting lesser known spots of beauty. I hope this will be finished in my lifetime and that I can participate in. I think it offers a way of moving that fits with principles of #HolyLingering. What trails (literal or otherwise) are you finding that help you away from frenzy toward holy lingering? https://lnkd.in/gm38MH8Q https://lnkd.in/g9mQbVgg

From steep climbs to stunning sunsets, my recent hike to Mt. Brown Hut was a powerful reminder of how the outdoors can test and teach us in profound ways. 7 years ago I had the privilige to study one semester of 'Sustainability & Outdoor Education' at Ara Institute of Canterbury. This experience made me fall in love with New Zealand's tramps (overnight hikes). I came back to NZ for more of this at the start of 2024. I believe so much education can be done in the big outdoors. It amazes me how many lessons you can learn on a 'simple' walk in the bush. These are often lessons that you don't get taught at school. Recently, I made a video documenting my trip up to Mt. Brown Hut with Jans de Jong On the first day our physical and mental strength was put to test. A 4 hour hike up the mountain challenged us in multiple ways: Physical and Physiological aspects: - Base endurance - Climbing skills - Balance - Strength - Flexibility - Coordination Mental abilities: - Resilience - Gratitude - Perseverance - Positive mindset - Teamwork - Patience - Adaptability The outdoors is a powerful teacher. I encourage everyone to embrace nature and use it as a tool for personal growth and development. Whether it’s a short walk in the park or an overnight hike, the lessons you learn and the strength you build can be truly transformative. Stay tuned for 'Day 2' of this incredible adventure, and feel free to check out the video to see the journey in action! 🎥✨ Let me know what the outdoors has taught you in the comments! https://lnkd.in/ezXHrQYe #OutdoorEducation #HikingAdventures #MtBrownHut #NewZealand #Sustainability #PersonalGrowth #DreamChasersPerformance #Adventure #Life #AdventureVlog #PerformanceCoaching

Very proud of this movie. I wrote the script, and worked with the film crew in 2015. My mision? To overcome adverse tourism industry and visitor perceptions of the destination at the time, for an already highly invested capital development. Which had failed. Because.... The industry view was... " you could NOT 1. have a successful boutique luxury resort on the mainland of Fiji. 2. that the weather in the area "sucked". 3. and the beach was "subpar". I was referred to the owner of Nanuku, by the former investor of the Jean Michel Cousteau Resort, for whom I had previously delivered success with another niche concept and operations strategy. For Nanuku highlighting "the spirit of Fiji ( aka Nanuku) " as the Vision for a unique operations strategy, and guest experience, and integrating authentic Fijian culture with local niche opportunity was crucial. The concept of Food Safari Adventure was a "first-ever" for Fiji, that optimised the unique strengths of the destination. Situated in the "food bowl" of Fiji amidst tropical rainforests. Within the first year of re-opening, delivering award-winning success. Achieving the best food Fiji with an ALL local Fijiain team, mentored by Jacques Reymond, and the highest Trip Advisor ratings of top 1%. An example, of applying unique skills, relevant experience and insights to transform failed/failing investments for long-term investor and business operator ROI.
