NDAA is an American law. There's a German equivalent: The IT-Security-Law.(IT-SiG 2.0) It restricts the use of components made by manufacturers that are under control of foreign officials (government, military forces, ...) especially those, that don´t share Germanys basic democratic rules and human rights, and therefore might be described as "systemic rival". Due to this there's just a recent descision, to kick Huawei out of the mobile communication network. I see this similar to the use of Hikvision at least in critical infrastructure / NIS2 affected projects.

Is it only me, or do others think that turning off comments on such a crucial subject is a bit immature? (So John Honovich was right) I have no real axe to grind, but reading the room on this issue is far more important than any non commital letter from the government could ever be. Would it not be better to engage and debate under Chatham House Rules the issue and the why’s and wherefore’s thereof, rather than rely on a quite pointless communiques from UKPLC as support? This whole debacle is not a simple black or white issue and is very much one in the Marmite category, but turning off comments would lead one to believe HIK are only interested in their truth and the legislative support (albeit thinly veiled) offered by this “letter” and nothing else matters. Messers HIK, your truth and the real truth are somewhat misaligned in my humble opinion and leaving the customer/user to glean their information from this letter (if they can find it) rather than you being more upfront is again in my opinion a little out of order. UK security industry as a whole, don’t we/it owe a “duty of care” to our nation in that we stand up for human rights abuses and ensure we offer the safest solutions for our nation, or is it just about the money?

Attention Exporters! ITAR Registration Fees Proposed to Change The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) is proposing an update to ITAR registration fees under rule 89 FR 31119. This could impact your business! Here's the breakdown: 📑The DDTC is proposing to increase and clearly define registration fees. Tier 1 – Manufacturers who don’t export and brokers – current base fee is $2250 - raised to $3000. Tier 2 – Low volume exporters – current base fee is $2750 which includes up to ten license approvals - raised to base fee of $4000 for only five licenses. Tier 3 – Higher volume exporters – current base fee is $2750 plus $250 per approved license – raised to base fee of $4000 plus an additional $1100 per license after five licenses. 📑The comment period for this proposed rule is open until June 10, 2024.
