Week 36 Challenge: Mechanized Infantry Traditionally, Infantry Carrier Vehicles (ICVs) are used for the transport of troops to key positions on the battlefield. With Strykers and Bradleys, they are also employed as Support by Fire and Attack by Fire platforms to support the movement and maneuver of dismounts. In this challenge we will strip away all but one leader game piece per ICV to test the challenge of ICV versus ICV combat. Setup: setup 4 game boards as shown. Divide the play area in half and assign one half to each player. Next, each player gets 5 ICVs, 5 leader game pieces, and 10 obstacles to place anywhere they choose on their half. Good luck and share your experiences with us in the comments section below 👇. A MORE ACCURATE PORTRAYAL OF BURNSIDE’S INVASION ROUTES INTO EAST TENNESSEE The advance of the Twenty-third Army Corps of Maj. Gen. Ambrose E. Burnside’s Army of the Ohio into East Tennessee in late August 1863 essentially severed the spine of the Confederacy by closing major logistical routes between the Deep South and Virginia. Previous writings by several Civil War historians and authors have included misinformation related to the routes and actions of Burnside’s invading forces, especially those of the three cavalry brigades in Gen. Samuel P. Carter’s 4th Cavalry Division. Fortunately, there are five primary sources of information that provide detailed descriptions of the actions of the three cavalry brigades during the invasion. These five sources apparently have long been overlooked and refute much of the misinformation that has been promulgated about the three cavalry brigades. The attached paper presents a more accurate view of the invasion routes. https://lnkd.in/emX9G-87

Veterans supporting Veterans! In a recent interview with Infantry #marine #veteran Brandon Hagar (IG: hagar_thefitbear), we discussed the athletic expectations while serving especially from his lens of being in the Marines. Our conversation touched on the extremes that can arise while serving in the military, leading to unhealthy practices like yo-yo dieting, binge drinking, and emotional stress. Such practices can take a toll on one's body. Brandon's guidance in making healthy, long-lasting changes is admirable. His approach, which delves into the emotional and mental aspects of fitness, helps in making long-lasting, sustaining behavior changes. It's always inspiring to see Veterans taking care of their mind, body, and spirit. Let's continue to support each other in this journey.

December is always that time of the year when parents are faced with having difficult discussions with their children and I don't mean the one about santa claus being real but with the Army-Navy game next week, "what is the difference between the Army and Navy and all the other branches?" I have had numerous requests to share this diagram once again since it has helped countless parents navigate this complex question. Required Disclaimers: 1.) I do not take credit for the creation of this visual aid since it was shared with me 2.) I support every branch of the military... yes even the Coast Guard and Space Force 3.) This diagram has not been approved by DOD (Dept of Defense) 4.) It can also be used as a coloring tool for Marines before meals. However, it is highly recommended that you do not give them crayons but a marker which would not be considered edible 5.) This post is for comedy relief only 6.) No animals were harmed during the making of this post #beatnavy #singsecond #veterans #armynavygame

Today's an important day to honor our veterans! More specifically, the K9 ones! March 13th is #k9 Veterans Day 🐶 🐾 Here's some interesting information from the American Kennel Club website on the history of dogs in the US Military: "The states had an unofficial canine war force in World War I, but military dogs did not become officially recognized until March 13, 1942, when a private organization, Dogs for Defense was established to recruit the public’s dogs for the U.S. military’s War Dog Program, known as the K-9 Corps." "Dogs’ sense of smell is roughly 50 times better than ours, meaning they can sniff out IEDs before they detonate and injure or kill U.S. servicemen in the prolonged Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts. Ground patrols are able to uncover only 50 percent of these, but with dogs, the detection rate increases to 80 percent, claims the Defense Department." Command SgtsMaj, LCpls, Cooks, and Grunts I was medically separated from the Marine Corps, as a LCpl. I never deployed to Afghanistan. I never deployed to Iraq. In fact, while in the Marine Corps, I never left the Continental United States. I never saw combat and I never ki||ed anyone. Regardless, I still served in the United States Marine Corps and I still earned the title Marine. I say that to say, if you served, you served. You signed a line that few ever have. Take pride in that. There’s no need to inflate, misrepresent, or outright lie about your service. Look, I am not Thomas Schueman. I am not Jake Reiff, and I’m not Justin LeHew. Those three men are warriors. That isn’t me. And that is okay. Because each of us brings a unique set of skills to the table. In my experience, respect comes, not from how many bodies you’ve dr0pped, but from how honest you are and from what kind of a leader you are. It takes all kinds of kinds to make this world go round - from cooks to infantry officers to everything in between - each has a role and each is valuable. To misrepresent or to lie about your service does far more harm than good and, to discredit the service of another, because they held the title 92G/3381 vs 11B/0311, is toxic and has no place in the #veteran community. Be yourself. There’s enough of everyone else. _____ 📸: me - terminal lance, subpar angler, district commander, decent hunter, and d@mn good veterans advocate. #veteransaffairs #veterans #stolenvalor #marinecorps #semperfi #leadership #noteveryoneinthenationalguardisacook #cooksarecooltoo

Week 24 Challenge - “12 Strong” If you haven’t read the book or heard the story of the “horse soldiers” of Afghanistan, then you are missing out on a pivotal point in our history in that region. This week’s challenge is intended to simulate this special forces unit’s maneuverability while facing overwhelming odds. Setup: Blue player gets one infantry rifle squad plus an RTO, a Platoon Leader, a 60mm Mortar, and two ICVs, and places them anywhere in the lower three game boards. Blue player then gets to place all 20 obstacle game pieces anywhere on the game boards. After this, Red player gets one infantry rifle platoon set of game pieces minus the 5 ICVs. Red player then places those game pieces anywhere in the upper three game boards (see photo for example). Objective: destroy your opponent’s will and ability to fight. Good luck, have a great Father’s Day, and thank an Infantry father for their service! Maj Geoff Ball's insights, combat experience, and heart wrenching dialog are critical to our nation's understanding of the impact from the loss of its most treasured citizens – those that have served and lost their lives in service to our nation. As the presidential election accelerates to a fever pitch, with name calling and unfulfilled promises, it seems that those leaders have forgotten the value of servant leadership, their responsibility toward those they sacrifice without reason, and ultimately being held accountable for their actions - wrongly taken. To reestablish trust between the Executive Branch and the Department of Defense and its Marines and Sailors require that everyone within this failed operation must admit to their mistakes...Corporal Hunter Lopez, Corporal Daegan Page, Corporal Humberto Sanchez, Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz, Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum, Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui, Lance Corporal Dylan Merola, Lance Corporal David Espinoza, and HM3 Maxton Soviak and their families deserve your admission of the truth. #goNavy #USNavy #veterans #veteransupport #veteranshelpveterans #defence #usna
