It's National Engineers Week! Today, we're spotlighting Britney, our Director of Pipeline Integrity. Growing up with two educator parents, Britney was instilled with a deep appreciation for learning, which fueled her natural curiosity. Her passion for problem-solving led her to the field of engineering. We couldn't be happier she's on our team. Let's learn a little more about Britney: Question: In your experience, what are some key scientific principles utilized in detecting and preventing gas leaks? "The natural gas industry operates within a highly regulated framework, and our teams are at the forefront of employing innovative scientific principles to tackle this challenge. From advanced leak detection technologies to probabilistic modeling techniques, we're constantly pushing the boundaries to enhance safety measures and protect the communities we serve." Offshore safety is hugely important. You are often dealling with big technology, and accidents have very serious consequences. Nothing that happens offshore is without effect for what happens onshore. From garbage to accidents, to health and safety for crews, it all counts. In Norway, for instance, offshore safety is a major concern for safety programs, as note the work of the University of Stavanger.
Now attending 2024 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) at NRG center, Houston, TX. Lots of new offshore technologies and practices help me think about next research projects on offshore safety. #OTC2024 #SafetyMatters #OffshoreSafety Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, & Systems Engineering - Texas Tech University

Proud of our training team in bringing the learning pathways live 👏 Our offerings were backed by research highlight the upskilling problem ingrained in oil & gas industry. Key Findings: ✅The share of LinkedIn members working in the Oil and Gas industry has declined by a median of 21% (38 countries) between January 2016 and August 2023. ✅Since 2016, out of all the employees who left their roles in energy and materials companies, 42 percent moved to a different industry. This underlines the very competitive nature of attracting and retaining talent within the sector. ✅Hiring talent to backfill critical roles and fill new roles presents a unique set of obstacles in the energy sector. Experienced workers are retiring, mid-tenure employees have new opportunities in adjacent industries, and data indicates that fewer new employees are entering this workforce. The percentage of employees with less than two years of tenure dropped from 16 percent in 2012 to less than 4 percent in 2022.
