“The way this industry talks about ‘I’m trying to protect my assets from the excavator’ maybe needs to be reframed.” That was GPRS Executive Vice President of Sales, Steve Mumm, sharing his thoughts during this year’s Texas811 Damage Prevention Summit Roundtable, hosted by Planet Underground. Mumm and his fellow panel members answered a variety of questions related to preventing subsurface damage, including whether advancements in this field would come faster if subsurface data was treated as a commodity rather than something that is freely shared. Check out the clip below, then share your thoughts in the comments! #GPRS #GPR #UtilityLocating #UtilityMapping #DamagePrevention #Construction #Safety

It’s now more important than ever to use clean drilling techniques for site investigations and always carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Climate change is one of the major challenges of our time. With huge impacts on our health, environment and our future, everybody needs to do their part to act more environmentally conscious. This includes geotechnical drilling companies. Here at Borehole Solutions, our drilling team understand how important these assessments are when it comes to protecting our planet for future generations to come. Despite what you may expect, there are some borehole drilling techniques that can help to preserve our landscape. Find out what these methods are in our latest blog post – https://lnkd.in/edRck4Aq

Today marks another year since the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The tragedy resulted in the loss of eleven lives and caused extensive environmental damage. We pay tribute to those who lost their lives, those who were injured, and the countless number of families and communities affected. The Deepwater Horizon oil spill has had a profound impact on our industry, prompting a review of safety procedures. Since the devastating incident in 2010, IWCF has updated course syllabi with a key focus on robust safety management and in-depth understanding of human factors. This aligns with our overall mission to ensure that personnel have the skills and knowledge required to prevent such incidents from ever happening again. #Macondo #wellcontrol #IWCF

State regulators grapple with a major leak in West Texas, drenching ranch land with potentially toxic water. The Railroad Commission of Texas has been on the ground for over a month, investing hundreds of thousands of dollars to contain the situation. The leak, discovered in early December, underscores the risks posed by aging oil and gas wells. Sarah Stogner, an advocate for addressing abandoned wells, warns of ecological devastation if action isn't taken. Despite efforts to plug the leak, concerns remain about groundwater contamination. Bill Burch, an oil and gas drilling engineer, stresses the need for stricter regulations to safeguard Texas's groundwater. This incident serves as a wakeup call for the industry and regulators alike. #OilandGas #EnvironmentalProtection #TexasEnergy

Thank you to Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) for hosting a first conference on Near-Term Wildfire Mitigation Strategies! The Guidebook for Utilities shared during this event is a fantastic resource to better understand some of the technologies and data being implemented to keep our communities safe. Delphire Inc is honored to be featured in the guidebook as one of two emerging technologies alongside Gridware; and other organizations dedicated to reducing the impact of wildfires like our collaborators at Watch Duty, Technosylva, the San Jose State University Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center and ALERTWest! This recognition underscores our joint commitment to advancing industry standards and collaboration brought together by the ultimate goal of making our communities safer. It was great to see over 40 utilities, including from Chile, join to understand how the California Utilities (San Diego Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison (SCE) and PG&E) have tackled this wildfire risk challenge, and what lessons they have learned along the way. The shared insights from a collective effort of the utilities together with an entire industry is enhancing customer safety and reducing wildfire risks. We look forward to establishing collaborations with more innovative utilities and other solutions to bring together a network of technologies that can keep our communities safe. #wildfire #WildfireMitigation #FireSafe #UtilityInnovation Patti Poppe Andrew Abranches Sumeet Singh, P.E.
