With the constant wave of developments in technology and IP law, I realized it would be worth having a platform to share my thoughts and perspectives. With that in mind, I’m excited to announce the launch of my new blog, TechnoLegal. As the idea for my own blog was brewing, I came across an interesting new copyright framework proposal for artificial intelligence large language models (LLMs) by an esteemed technology attorney. This proposal likens an LLM to a VCR in that both can be led by a user to infringe prior works, calling for a refreshed Sony Doctrine for the age of AI: a TAO ("Training and Output") Doctrine. Reading through the proposal, I realized that I see the legal situation somewhat differently and wanted to share my take. Check it out at the link below. https://lnkd.in/emUiqX5x

Anyone as sick of the word "seamless" as I am? 😩 It's used to describe “smoothly flowing” legal tech integrations and workflow processes so often that it's lost all meaning. 🤔 What’s a long piece of fabric got to do with anything, anyway? Can't replace seamless with "smooth," though, because smooth is an "ick" word for too many people. It makes them feel gross, similar to the word "moist." 🤮 "Effortless" tosses its hat in the ring and barely dodges a jab from "frictionless". 👊🏽 Both are good contenders in a purely utilitarian sense. But they lack imagination. No to the “symphony” analogy. 🥱 “Flawless” is simply incorrect. Stable is nice, yes? Stable is safe - if a tad boring. How about hiccup-less? 😁 Or hiccup-free? Or better yet, describe your actual experience. Is it fast? Easy to use? Saves time? Tell your story. Still, as an adjective, what else works to replace “seamless”? And who’s with me on this #SeamlessStrike? #LegalTech #TechIntegration #MarketingSpeak

While it brings great opportunities for improving efficiency and automating manual, repetitive elements of creative work, it also throws up significant challenges. Issues around copyright, spam content, hallucination, the formulaic nature of algorithmic creation and bias all need to be considered by professionals planning on adopting it into their workflow. https://lnkd.in/ezgBYUKR
