Transgender Awareness Week is an opportunity for all of us to amplify transgender voices, celebrate their experiences, and work towards a more inclusive and equitable world. Being a trans ally means listening, learning, and standing up for the rights and dignity of transgender individuals—both in the workplace and beyond. Here are a few ways you can be an ally: 1. Respect Pronouns – Use the correct pronouns and names. It shows respect and affirmation of a person’s identity. 2. Educate Yourself – Learn about the challenges and discrimination faced by the trans community. Understanding is the first step to action. 3. Speak Up – Challenge transphobia, both overt and subtle, in conversations, policies, and behaviors. 4. Support Trans Rights – Advocate for policies and practices that protect and uplift transgender individuals in your community and workplace. 5. Listen – Create spaces where trans people can share their experiences and feel heard. Let’s work together to ensure a culture of belonging where everyone feels seen and respected—not just this week, but every day. #TransgenderAwarenessWeek #BelongingintheWorkplace #GlobalERGNetwork

From the 13-19 November, it’s Transgender Awareness Week! Trans people often face discriminations at recruitment, and verbal abuse in the workplace. This is in large part due to a lack of awareness, which brings misconceptions and rejection. But we can all do better. In this extract from our webinar on practical LGBTQIA+ inclusion, Jude Noro tells us about his experience coming out while working at CIWEM, and how having allies helped him before, during and after he talked about it publicly. Today on Transgender Day of Remembrance during Transgender Awareness Week, we reflect not only on lives lost to hate and violence but on the resilience and strength of the transgender community. 🌈 The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, is an important step, but it reminds us that laws alone cannot guarantee safety, dignity, or equality. We must continue to advocate for policies that truly reflect the lived experiences of transgender individuals and fight for a society that values and respects them. As we remember those we've lost, let’s also commit to uplifting the voices of the living—amplifying their stories, listening to their needs, and ensuring that their rights go beyond legislation to be felt in every aspect of their lives. Together, let’s create a world that is inclusive, safe, and affirming for everyone. 🕯️💙💗💜 #TransDayOfRemembrance #TransgenderAwarenessWeek #EndTransphobia #InclusionForAll #TransRightsAreHumanRights #TransgenderAwarenessWeek SStraight Circles SStraight Circles Foundation
