🏙️ Islamabad: From Beauty to a City of Containers?
Islamabad, often celebrated as the second most beautiful capital in the world, is now overshadowed by an unfortunate transformation into a "container city." The scenic vistas and serene ambiance that define this city are being disrupted by barriers and blockades.
While security and logistical needs are essential, let’s not forget the importance of preserving the beauty and functionality of our capital city. It’s time to find balanced solutions that protect both its charm and its citizens’ convenience.

In a bid to enhance convenience for residents, the Karachi government launched free Wi-Fi services at the historic Frere Hall on Friday.
The service was inaugurated by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab during his visit to the iconic building, which was completed in 1865 and originally served as the city’s town hall.
Mayor Wahab also revealed plans to expand this free Wi-Fi service to other historical and recreational sites, including parks managed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), to integrate modern technology into public spaces.
This initiative follows the lead of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who extended free Wi-Fi in Lahore in June 2024, increasing the number of locations from 100 to 200.

Lahore, Pakistan's second-largest city, is home to over 13 million people and growing at an annual rate of 3%. This rapid population expansion presents both incredible opportunities and challenges. However, the city's physical growth has outpaced the land use strategies laid out in existing master plans. At the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA), we are committed to transforming Lahore through strategic, forward-thinking metropolitan planning. Our goal is to ensure that the city’s infrastructure can effectively support its growing population while significantly improving the quality of life for all its residents.
To achieve this, we are focusing on key developments, including new bridges, buses, and train networks for easier travel; green parks and clean waterways to enhance the environment; and better housing options to meet the needs of every resident. Ultimately, it's about creating a city where living is easier, healthier, and more sustainable for everyone. Together, let's build a smarter, more sustainable future. Stay tuned as we share our vision and progress through the #RUDAHorizonSeries.

Lahore City Planning from the Mughal Empire & British Raj to Now.
Lahore is poorly planned???
From the narrow but clean streets of Old Lahore built by the Mughals to the roads built by the British, Lahore was never a land of chaotic settlements and unplanned societies as it has become now by the grace of current practices and its haphazard city planning.
I don't agree with all these points, which these people are discussing but most of the points are valid. We need more discussion on our cities planning with multifaceted debate on our city healthy.
