Today, we have gone to a pumping station. This specific location has multiple intakes from pumping jacks around the Aneth UT area. This is one of the many times we have gone to the Elk Petroleum and came back with some general knowledge of how things work. This particular image is showing multiple inlets from jumping jacks around the area. This Particular place is a small processing plant which crude oil is pumped into. This plant takes crude oil, stores it temporarily in order to let it sit and have the gas to separate from the crude oil. This particular tank has a system which drains out the fluids that have gathered on the bottom of the tank. The float inside on the side of the tank enables a switch which relays to a motor. This motor then spins a jump draining the crude oil that the tank holds. While this is happening the oil inside the tank lowers until a point where another float shuts off the pump allowing it to fill once more with crude oil extracted. 😎
