Franzisca is a University of St.Gallen graduate, and brings experience from the insurance and biotech industries. In 2023, she founded KEEN Wellbeing, a recovery studio in Zurich specialising in active recovery through breath, heat and cold protocols. KEEN offers immersive experiences through group classes, solo journeys or community events. In our conversation, Frankie shares how the idea about the studio came about, recent successes as well as current challenges. She says: “My entrepreneurial journey is more than building a business - it's been a path of personal growth, revealing my fears, limiting beliefs, and valuable life lessons." Two weeks ago, I put out a call to mentor early-stage women founders. The response was incredible! Meet the selected five founders building some seriously cool stuff: Arushi Raina with Praxis Spinal Cord Institute, a successful venture accelerator that has already supported 36 ventures and seen 11 products enter the markets to reach people living with Spinal Cord Injury. The next step is scaling their Fund. Latchmi Raghunanan, Ph.D. with Maman Biomedical, making an impact on the fertility treatment experience by eliminating the need for injections during a typical treatment cycle. Mo Carrier with MyBliss, a condom brand made by women for women that within months of launching was stocked in SEPHORA, and named "Best Condom Brand in 2024" by Cosmopolitan and Men's Health magazine UK. Lorena Polovina, P.Eng, CPHD with MycoFoundry, creating high-end home decor grown with mycelium. The team (Nicholas Lin, Isobel and Joseph) are wrapping up The University of British Columbia e-incubator program next month. Communities thrive when resources, investments, and opportunities come together to create a flourishing environment. However, not all communities are given the same access to these critical elements. The American Heart Association recognizes this gap and is working tirelessly to bridge it through their EmPOWERED to Serve Business Accelerator Program. We sit down with Pamela Garmon Johnson, Vice President of Health Equity and National Partnerships at the AHA, to talk about the incredible impact of this incredible program. Pamela sheds light on how investing in under-resourced communities can drive economic growth and why health equity matters. The Accelerator program has already invested over $1.3 million into 166 businesses, enabling them to generate nearly $400 million in additional investments. Pamela is excited to welcome more philanthropists, VCs, and partners to the finale event on October 9th and aims to expand collaborations with other accelerators. The goal is to further increase the program's impact and help the AHA secure additional funds for these transformative businesses. F*ck Ups as an entrepreneur - that was the theme for the panel discussion I was invited to join by Tech Nordic Advocates and Career Club DK on Wednesday. Great discussion and input by my co-panel participants, Isabella Merrild Agdestein, Bodil Biering, PhD, Vedrana Rogoznica and the hosts, TNA's Maria Fagranes Clemmensen and Career Clubs Nischa Don Maak 🎗️ and Maria Bach Nielsen. 💃 I will probably not become a startup founder again. Not because I didn't enjoy the journey, the learning, the friendship, and the skills I acquired, but because of the cost. Both financial and lifestyle wise. However, I will continue to mentor Finnish and Danish tech startups and scaleups to ensure that female founders get the best possible start to their entrepreneurial journey as they face obstacles men wouldn't dream of. In Denmark I have a Prime Minister, who tells me I'm lazy, a Defence Minister, who wants me to serve national service on equal terms as men, a Foreign Minister, who says it's my duty to have children, 3 Conservative male politicians saying women, who choose not to have children are traitors to their country, men saying quotas for women on Boards is male-discrimination, and a government that is to blame for women's support and eco-systems collapsing left right and center (eldercare, childcare, hospitals). For me a woman's national value is not measured in how many children she provides for her country, but how she supports her country. 💚 #Femaleentrepreneurs only get 1,5% of all investments yet give investors a 25% higher return on their investments than male founded startups. So the next time you meet a female founder running a startup, with a full time job on the side to financially support her dream whilst juggling commitments to her family - show her some respect. Don't call her lazy. Don't tell her to have a 3. child. Don't tell her that her startup won't suit a VC investor.
