MFA is one slice of the security landscape pie. The variation of implementation will depend upon the use case. A temporal and location would be good to combat compromised accounts. Linking the account to a job roster could combat the temporal factor. It also will also depend on how sensitive the work will be. This will dictate whether the extra scrutiny is warranted.
