This week is teacher appreciation week. Don’t just thank your child’s teacher- thank your teacher in whatever way you can. We can indeed educate in so many ways that do not include a teacher. But it’s the teacher who humanizes learning, customizes instruction to individuals, and creates a space where students ENJOY learning, and continue to do so for the rest of their lives though they may never realize it. While parents stabilize society, and keep families strong, teachers nurture society collectively. This goes for all teachers in all societal institutions. But public education’s teachers advance our cuvilization above our present state. They in many cases are the sole catalyst that transition individuals beyond simple survival. Teachers are at the heart of every form of social and intellectual manifestation of progress we have come to understand because the most successful teachers truly love their students, and teach their students to love and respect one another in the process. What would we be without them? Thank a teacher.

✨N E W B L O G✨ Quick Read, Long Ponder About Accountability by Ginger Lewman "When a teacher tells me they want their kids to take more accountability, more responsibility, the first thing I look for in their classroom is how often the academic conversation is between teacher - students only vs students - students. When kids talk freely and willingly about academics (not just chit-chat) with one another, they're actually building trust and community in one another. AND they're building trust in you, even when they're not talking directly to you, because of the safe, relational environment you're fostering. You're demonstrating with your actions that you trust and respect them." On Teacher’s Day, we celebrate those who dedicate their lives to nurturing minds and shaping futures. But while we honor our teachers, it’s important to remember that learning isn’t confined to the classroom or limited to a select few. Every person we meet, regardless of age, background, or experience, has something to teach us. The beauty of life lies in its diversity of perspectives. A child can remind us of curiosity and wonder. A colleague might inspire us with their resilience. Even those we disagree with teach us the art of patience and understanding. The world, in essence, is a classroom, and everyone we encounter plays the role of teacher. Learning from everyone means being open, listening actively, and embracing humility. It's about understanding that knowledge is boundless, and wisdom often comes from unexpected places. This Teacher’s Day, let's celebrate not only our educators but also the everyday teachers around us- the friends, family members, and even strangers who offer lessons in kindness, strength, and humanity. Here’s to lifelong learning and recognizing that the world’s greatest classroom has no walls and above all to all my teachers, aged 1 to 100 -Happy Teacher’s Day!

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and if you have school-age kids that means you might have a Target trip on your agenda. I have a suggestion for you… Skip the candle, coffee mug, and candy sections and go straight for the greeting cards. Last year, I polled more than 200 teachers on Instagram to find out how they REALLY want to be appreciated, and there was one answer that came up TEN TIMES more often than anything else. Thank-you notes. Above anything else, teachers want to know their work makes a difference. There’s simply nothing better than hearing that what you’re doing is making a positive impact on a kid’s life. (I left my classroom five years ago, and I STILL have a bin full of thank-you notes and photos I received from my students and their families!) If you’ve already bought the candle, mug, candy, that’s not BAD. Just add a heartfelt note and you’ll make that teacher’s day. And if you want to be super-prepared next school year, here’s a survey you can use to make sure you know EXACTLY how your kids’ teachers prefer to be appreciated. https://lnkd.in/gt-42ekw Teachers and former teachers... what signs of appreciation meant the most to you? ⬇
