My last few posts were consecutively about our UK partners and #Institutions but they seemed incomplete without mention of our pillar of strength who made Global Colliance -the pioneers in #GUJARAT for UK. “From benign beginnings to the most sought-after #partner in UK” – the journey had its share of ups and downs. But what made it memorable were the people who handheld us in toughest times. And to express our gratitude this post is dedicated to one such person who believed in Global Colliance. I still remember the first call from our mascot Jaishree Chaturvedi MCIM, MBA who believed in our abilities back then in 2018, for the association of University of Bradford. Those who do not know Jaishree must click on her name above and shall reach out to her profile, but you still won’t be able to decode her, unless you read this post fully. Jaishree is a person who keeps an eye for details in everything. If a tablecloth is not having the name of the brand, she represents then you need not to replace the tablecloth rather you shall find a replacement for yourself 😊. If the above line seems too much frightening, then please read ahead as the post is not over yet. 😊 Yes, she is a taskmaster but she has this amazing ability of identifying the potential of the people, which you can witness in her sessions with #students and of course Global Colliance could be considered an example too. She believed in us and chose Global Colliance as the pioneer partner in #Gujarat for UK Partnerships when #UK was still a dream for #Gujaratis. During #COVID when the prospects for the Industry looked gloomy she participated in each and every #webinar with fervour to make it as interesting as live sessions. This post was not coming to end anywhere hence have to cut short by thanking Jaishree to remain our lucky mascot till today. Lets do this folks, our campaign message for 2025 - but I feel we should be clear in what we mean here. Firstly, we do not believe that this country is broken, we do not believe it needs a rebuild, it simply needs a reboot. You might liken this to the flicking of a switch, a burst of new energy, a screen refresh, if you like, but one that brings a new positive perspective to what we are motivated by, what we are embarking upon. Because we live in an extraordinary country, filled with so much talent, potential and opportunity and frankly, talking personally, we need to stop talking Britain down and start talking Britain UP. Why, given there are many challenges, should we? I hear you ask. Well, because in my mind, we owe it to our younger generations. We as leaders, custodians of this country and of what will shape their futures, have a responsibility to let them see that the future of this country is a positive one, and that their future in this country should be equally positive, with great opportunities and that they should look forward to a fulfilled and enriching life and we should encourage them to be optimistic. But to encourage that, we as leaders, must be optimistic ourselves and do whatever it takes, to inspire, to lead with vision, and unlock the potential of those around us. This dynamic platform not only encouraged us to engage with pressing issues but also empowered us to propose actionable solutions for protecting women in the workplace. A strong alumni network is a valuable asset for any university and can greatly benefit current students and recent graduates. An Alumni often hold influential positions in various industries and can offer valuable connections and networking opportunities. They can provide introductions, recommend students for job openings, and even facilitate internships or placements. Alumni events, both virtual and in-person, allow students to network with graduates who understand the challenges and demands of their field, fostering meaningful professional relationships. Alumni who have been through the same academic programs can provide guidance on career choices, industry insights, and practical advice on achieving success. They can offer tips on interview preparation, CV writing, and career advancement. Some universities pair current students with alumni mentors who provide one-on-one support, helping students navigate their career paths with insider knowledge. Alumni working in specific fields can offer real-world insights and updates on industry trends. Guest lectures or seminars led by alumni give students a chance to learn from professionals who share their background and can relate their studies directly to practical applications. The success of alumni enhances the reputation of the university. When graduates are known for their achievements, it reflects positively on the institution and boosts its standing. This, in turn, can enhance the value of a degree from that university. Employers may associate strong alumni performance with high-quality education from that university, making them more likely to recruit from there in the future. Celebrating a Gamechanger: Aruna Venkatachalam Wins the 2024 Asia Society Australia Gamechanger Award The Asia Society Australia Gamechanger Awards celebrate Australia’s strong connection with Asia and honour leaders who are strengthening this vital relationship. We are excited to celebrate Aruna Venkatachalam, International Consultant at Young Change Agents and the recipient of the 2024 Gamechanger Award in the Education and Research category! Aruna has dedicated her career to enabling underrepresented founders—especially women and People of Colour—to grow their impact. Her incredible work spans over 15 years and is rooted in community development, humanitarian response, leadership and social enterprise. This prestigious award acknowledges Aruna’s remarkable contributions to education and research, particularly groundbreaking initiatives, such as: Forging Global Connections: Aruna developed a world-first partnership between India (AVENUES Meghalaya) and Australia (Young Change Agents), focusing on social entrepreneurship education for First Nations youth in both countries. Lighting the Spark: In collaboration with Australian First Nations leaders and youth, Aruna co-developed Lighting the Spark, a self-determined entrepreneurship program that has reached over 1,000 participants across Australia and was tabled in Parliament as a best-practice example. Environmental Advocacy: In India, Aruna co-founded a startup to track urban pollution, empowering local groups with the data needed to push for better air quality.
