❓ Are good, proactive salespeople the hardest candidates to find❓ Over the past few weeks it has been really interesting talking to commercial leaders across sport about their teams and where they see areas of improvement. After a few conversations, I noticed a trend emerging…. 🕵♀️ That most leaders would love to add good, proactive, and perhaps most importantly motivated salespeople to their sponsorship teams. People who are comfortable and willing to complete good old-fashioned prospecting and sales outreach. At volume and without quality dropping. But they seem to be the hardest to find for commercial leaders across sport. When delving deeper, these leaders were frustrated with too many “thinkers” and not enough “doers” in the industry. This issue seems to be worse at a more senior level (Senior Sales Manager/Sales Director) and then at a junior level, the quality of outreach seems to drop. So, what is the answer? 🤷♂️ It is an interesting one, sponsorship sales departments have seen a lot of innovation and growth over the last few years. With each stage of the sales process seeing more sophistication, innovation and focus, it feels like one of the most important parts of the process has been overlooked? When discussing how to solve this perceived problem in the industry, leaders feel like the answer may lie in finding candidates without sponsorship sales experience and looking for proactive salespeople in other areas of the industry and other industries all together! Which is refreshing and if you look at some of the sales teams in the industry a trend that has already started. 🙌 For my commercial network, I’d love to get your thoughts.
