Employees in ineffective employee resource groups report LOWER inclusion than employees who aren't in #ERGs at all. Employees spend extra time to be part of ERGs, so it's important they are getting value for their time spent. Recently, I've been getting a lot of questions about how to make ERGs more effective - and there's no one-size-fits-all answer to it. That's why it's important to understand AND communicate the vision and goals of each group. Some are meant solely for networking, some will be crucial for career development, and some will want to make an impact on the external community.
