The rise of agency workers is gaining momentum as organisations seek greater flexibility and agility. According to the World Employment Confederation's "The Work We Want" survey, 88% of companies plan to increase the number of workers hired through employment agencies in the next two years - a strategic shift that aims to enhance workforce agility, access specialised digital skills, and efficiently meet evolving demands. Our survey of 700 senior executives reveals that other key benefits of using agencies include the ability to access digital skills that are difficult to hire on a permanent basis and access to higher-calibre candidates – as well as helping to prepare for planned changes in resource requirements at particular times of year. 🔎 https://lnkd.in/gi52RqB6 🗣 Do you see other benefits in hiring agency workers? In light of the recent data on agency spend within the UK for temporary labour in 2024, it is crucial for businesses to re-evaluate their recruitment strategies. The substantial increase in agency spend reflects the ongoing challenges in finding and retaining skilled temporary workers. As recruiters, it is imperative to partner with organizations to develop innovative solutions for sourcing and managing temporary labour, ultimately reducing reliance on costly agencies. The data serves as a call to action for businesses to invest in long-term recruitment and retention strategies, tailored to the evolving landscape of temporary labour. 📈 The rise in agency spend highlights the need for businesses to prioritize in-house talent acquisition capabilities, such as building robust talent pipelines and implementing effective workforce planning strategies. This shift will not only drive cost-efficiency but also ensure a consistent and reliable workforce. Leveraging technology and data-driven insights can further optimize the recruitment process, enabling organizations to make informed decisions and adapt to the dynamic market conditions. 💼 As the competition for skilled temporary workers intensifies, businesses must focus on creating attractive employment propositions and fostering a positive employer brand. By enhancing the overall employee experience and offering opportunities for upskilling and career development, organizations can position themselves as employers of choice, reducing the reliance on expensive agency resources and driving greater productivity and retention in the long run. #RecruitmentTrends #LabourMarket #TalentAcquisition

SHORT STAFFED: A third (34%) of UK businesses reported being short-staffed at least once a week, a survey commissioned by temporary work platform Indeed Flex has revealed. An additional fifth (23%) of businesses reported being under-staffed at least once a month. Of those who were short-staffed, half (49%) said it was due to employees being off sick, reports HR Magazine. The survey, which concluded last month also found that nearly two in five (38%) companies used more temporary staff to plug gaps than they did a year ago, due to difficulties finding permanent staff. Meanwhile 24% of businesses found it hard to fill vacancies in the last year. A survey by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG last week also found that more employers were looking to hire temporary staff than permanent staff in March 2024.
