Rice-Shrimp Ecosystem in the Mekong Delta: A Sustainable Path to Organic Rice Cultivation 🌾🦐 The Mekong Delta, Vietnam's rice bowl, is undergoing a transformation towards a more sustainable agricultural model: the rice-shrimp ecosystem. By integrating shrimp farming and rice cultivation in the same area, farmers have created a balanced ecosystem where shrimp improve soil quality, purify water, while rice provides shade and natural food for shrimp. Key benefits of this model: Increased yield and quality: Shrimp enhance soil fertility, water retention, and rice growth. Reduced costs: Lower reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, leading to reduced production costs. Sustainability: Environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and climate change adaptation. Let's share and promote the values of the rice-shrimp ecosystem, contributing to a green and sustainable agriculture for the Mekong Delta! #riceshrimp #MekongDelta #organicagriculture #sustainability #environment #Vietnam

Day 5: Cultivating Harmony: Embracing Agroecology Today, let's explore agroecology—a farming approach that uses nature to grow food sustainably while preserving our precious ecosystems. 🌱 Imagine a farm where rows of crops are grown with wildflowers and shrubs, creating a vibrant tapestry of life. Here, farmers use techniques like companion planting and natural pest control to nurture healthy crops without relying on harmful chemicals. For example, instead of spraying pesticides, a farmer practicing agroecology might attract beneficial insects like ladybugs and lacewings to prey on pests naturally. They might also plant nitrogen-fixing cover crops, such as clover or vetch, to improve soil fertility and reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers. By embracing agroecology, farmers not only produce nutritious food but also protect pollinators, conserve water, and enhance biodiversity. It's a win-win for both people and the planet, showing that sustainable farming can nourish us while safeguarding our environment for future generations. #Agroecology #SustainableFarming #Biodiversity #ClimateResilience #FoodSecurity 🌾🌿🌍

TRADITIONAL FARMING IS KILLING COFFEE. In Minas Gerais, Brazil, like many other places, coffee is typically planted as monoculture crop under full sun. Farmers report that coffee plantations are more and more exposed to pest and disease attacks and in response to this, they increase the use of pesticides and fungicides along with the use of chemical fertilizers. By doing so farmers are in fact destroying their own livelihoods, because they are exhausting the soil and destroying microbiological life. Which is part of the reason why many coffee producers complain about decreasing coffee productivity. THIS HAS GOT TO CHANGE! Through the “Syntropic Agroforestry Coffee Project” in Minas Gerais we aim to turn those aforementioned problems and challenges into a solution. The Project is implemented in a partnership between GrowGrounds, F4F - Forests4Farming gGmbH, and the Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung - HRNS, and aims to increase the resilience and productivity of family coffee farmers in Minas Gerais while rebuilding nature on and around the farms. 🌍 Alexander Dubsky on why Sustainable Shrimp Production in Europe and especially in Switzerland is a Smart ESG Move Sustainable shrimp farming in Europe isn’t just good for the environment—it’s a win for everyone involved. 🔋 Environmental Impact: By producing shrimp locally, we cut down on carbon emissions from long-distance transport and promote eco-friendly farming practices. Innovative technologies like recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) help minimize waste and preserve our ecosystems. 💼 Social Responsibility: Supporting local shrimp farms means more jobs and better working conditions. European labor standards ensure fair wages and safe workplaces, contributing to stronger, more resilient communities. 🔍 Governance and Transparency: European shrimp producers adhere to strict regulations, ensuring traceability, food safety, and ethical practices. This transparency builds consumer trust and meets the growing demand for responsibly sourced seafood. In a world where ESG matters more than ever, sustainable shrimp production in Europe is a clear example of how we can do business better—for the planet, for people, and for long-term prosperity. #Sustainability #ESG #Aquaculture #ResponsibleFarming #ClimateAction #FoodSafety NZZ Sustainable Switzerland #winterthur World Aquaculture Society European Aquaculture Society Eurofish International Organisation

Sri Lovely Organic Farm , #Sik #Kedah #Malaysia we are focusing on #Organic rice cultivation emphasizes sustainable farming practices, avoiding synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. It promotes soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation. Community Supported Agriculture (#csa ) further enhances this model, fostering direct relationships between farmers and consumers. Through CSA, members invest in local farms, receiving fresh, organic produce in return. This symbiotic relationship ensures farmers' livelihoods and provides communities with nutritious food. Organic rice cultivation within CSA frameworks fosters environmental stewardship, strengthens local economies, and promotes healthier lifestyles. By supporting organic rice cultivation and CSA initiatives, communities contribute to sustainable agriculture and foster a closer connection to the food they eat. #LocalFarmerLocalFood #RiceCultivation #Soilmanagement #integratedpestmanagement

💮🌸💮The blooming of Almond Trees mark a season filled with delight and promise, igniting hope for our forthcoming Sweet Almond Oil production ! 🌳Few weeks ago, George and Pascale went to visit different fields of Almond Trees, from where is originating our Natura-Tec Sweet Almond Oil-Virgin Ph EU. 🤝We work in collaboration with different farmers, from the Mediterranean basin, selected for their traditional farming and processes, their sustainable management of land and their respect for biodiversity. 🌱These selected fields of Sweet Almond trees, have high standards of ecological management of land. 💧For example, the irrigation system is via underground feed lines to prevent water waste and interference with fauna. The water used is coming from deep underground natural wells or from uses water, from local water recycling plants. 🐝 Beehives are placed in the fields and left on site by local beekeepers (“Bee Friendly” certified). 🌼Large spaces are left between each tree, creating green corridors, with natural flower species, and as well as Rosemary, for example, which is particularly appreciated by the bees to produce the nectar. 🍂Another example is the use of mulching and compost, instead of herbicides. 🚜Finally, the Almonds are harvested by the farmers, delivering them directly in big bags, and the crude Sweet Almond Oil manufacture is carried out using only traditional cold press processes. 💞We will then obtain a superb quality of Sweet Almond Oil-Virgin Ph EU, sourced from sustainable farming, produced thanks to traditional processes and with a full traceability from a Mediterranean origin with a precise localization guarantee. 📧 Contact us to try our high standard grade of Sweet Almond Oil. #SweetAlmondOil #blooming #almondfields #localfarming #Mediterraneanorigin #traditionalfarming #sustainablelandmanagement #biodiversityrespect #biodiversity #watermanagement #bees #beefriendly #compost #nopesticide #coldpress #highquality #traceability #sustainablefarming #biodiversitypreservation #qualityandtraceability

This spring, we planted 145 acres of cover crops at Kanjuku and 140 acres of Perennial Peanut, making a significant step toward our sustainability goals. These cover crops play a crucial role in improving soil health, preventing erosion, and increasing biodiversity, while also helping to sequester carbon dioxide. In fact, our current planting of 285 acres is expected to sequester 940.5 tons of CO2 annually – equal to the emissions of 185 cars! Once our second CUPS structure is complete this fall, we’ll be adding another 25 acres of hairy indigo cover crops to further enhance our commitment to sustainable farming practices. Have any questions for our growers about these cover crops? We’d be happy to answer them! #imgcitrus #floridaagriculture #sustainabilitygoals #soilhealth
