Grameenphone authorities have continuously flouted labor laws, including the illegal retrenchment of 159 workers on June 20, 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bangladesh Supreme Court has issued a judgment in favor of the workers, yet Grameenphone has defied both the law and the court's ruling by not yet instated them. This disregard for workers' rights is in stark contrast to Telenor's practices in its home country of Norway, where such violations would never be tolerated. Today, Grameenphone workers are protesting in defense of their human rights, demanding to live and work with dignity and respect. I urge Telenor and the International Global Union to intervene and investigate these illegal activities by Grameenphone's management.
