As we enter into 2025 a recent GSMA Consumer Circularity survey caught our attention.   In it, it highlights 75% of consumers still have at least one old phone laying dormant at home, while 20% have at least three.   The survey explores the reasons behind these trends by looking at how 26 different countries buy, use, repair, and dispose of mobile phones, underscoring an important point - what consumer’s value and prioritize varies across markets.   From cash incentives, data privacy and convenience being key for some, and sentimentality and sustainability resonating more with others.     These insights emphasise the need for the industry to tap into different consumer value drivers, to create programs that support a better understanding and better use of devices at every stage of their lifecycle.   A few key highlights:   → One-third of consumers keep their previous phone as backup. → One-fifth keep their old device, because they don’t know what to do with it.   → 42% of consumers would reuse or recycle their device if they knew their data would be properly deleted.   → 34% prioritize convenience, with some countries valuing it over cash incentives.   → In some countries, sentimental attachment to old phones plays a significant role in the reluctance to trade them in or recycle.   Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gSfpMhbn   #circulation #sustainability #GSMA #consumerbehaviour #secondlife
