Building on its existing advances in friction stir welding (#FSW) tools and solutions, Element Six is proud to be one of the partners in the European STWIN project, aimed at developing advanced, non-destructive technologies to improve steel stir welding processes through artificial intelligence. 💥 📈 We look forward to closely collaborating with the broader network of project partners, including CIDAUT, Hiab, SSAB, Belgisch Instituut voor Lastechniek | Belgian Welding Institute, ISEND S.A. (NDTpioneers)., Tricylon Robotics, Granalu, HORSE and STIRWELD. As part of this initiative, the consortium partners will harness their complementary expertise to develop a new friction stir welding method capable of creating complex 3D structures for a variety of steel grades and thicknesses. In parallel, the project will explore the specific advantages of the friction stir welding process, in combination with real-time quality control, with a view to achieving defect-free welds.
